Kawasaki - New Champion Sofuoglu Out To Win Again At Season Finale

After winning his fourth FIM Supersport World Championship last time out in France Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) is now aiming to help Kawasaki finish in first place in the Manufacturers’ Championship by going for what would be his sixth race win of the season. With a personal points advantage of 28 over PJ Jacobsen (Honda) on the eve of the 12th and final round Kenan is now out to defend Kawasaki’s leading position in the Manufacturers’ Championship table. The fight is a three-way battle, with Kawasaki on 217 points, MV Agusta on 202 and Honda on 197. Sofuoglu, who has now taken two of his four championships on the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R in 2012 and 2015, joined the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing team in the winter of last year. Their combined efforts have allowed him to continue his success in the Supersport division, with the support of Kawasaki. Kenan starts the final race of the year with an enviable haul of record-breaking statistics to his name. In a career total of 103 starts he has won 32 races, part of a career-long podium haul of 68. He has started from pole 22 times, made 81 front row starts in all, and has set 25 fastest laps in races. In what will be only his 14th WSS race this coming weekend young Kawasaki rider Marco Faccani (San Carlo Puccetti Racing Kawasaki) Ninja ZX-6R will be out to try and improve in his best so far, fifth place at his home venue of Imola. He is currently tenth in the championship, on 59 points. Christian Gamarino (Go Eleven Kawasaki) is a worthy eighth overall, with his team-mate Dominic Schmitter (Go Eleven Kawasaki) 13th. Each has ambitions to climb higher after the final race of the exciting 2015 season. Kenan Sofuoglu stated: “Since securing the championship at the last round I have had a nice time in Turkey with the family and the fans. I am happy to have already taken the title. Qatar is not an easy track for us, as I know from last year. Personally, I like the layout and the good thing is that the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing team has improved the bike a lot so I hope the package will be better than 2014. I hope it will be a good weekend and we will be fighting to take the Manufacturers’ title for Kawasaki. That is important for us.”
