New Superstock 1000 Season For New Ninja ZX-10R

With an all-new #kawasaki #ninjazx10r released in 2016 several riders will be equipped with it in the prestigious FIM #superstock1000 FIM Cup, which runs at WorldSBK rounds in Europe once again – beginning this weekend in Spain at Motorland Aragon.

The latest new 1000cc Ninja features many characteristics that should help it make an impact in the STK1000 class, which is designed for machines that are more like standard roadbikes than the equivalent full World Superbike machines.

Kawasaki has some old and new names in its STK1000 riding line up for 2016, all combining to make a potent force to take on their many rivals in this highly competitive category, which will be run over nine rounds in total.

Christophe Ponsson (20) is joined in the officially supported Pedercini #racing #kawasaki squad by Jeremy Guarnoni (23).

Guarnoni has taken three of his four career wins in this category of #racing on #kawasaki machinery and has made 38 race starts in total. Guarnoni has 11 podiums to his credit in 1000cc stock class #racing, ten achieved on previous model Kawasakis.

Ponsson is about to start only his 11th STK1000 race this weekend, having ridden a full Superbike in 2015.

In a revamped squad in 2016 these two French-speaking riders make a potent combination of relative youth and relative experience. The team has a new base and a new set-up this year, but is still based in Italy and run by former top-level racer Lucio Pedercini.

Toprak Razgatlioglu (19) is in a single rider Puccetti #racing #kawasaki squad for 2016 having won the Superstock 600 European Championship last year for his team and #kawasaki. He is a complete rookie to the 1000cc scene but much is expected of him once he adapts to his new role in #racing life.

Several other riders and teams have opted for #kawasaki power in 2016, including experienced campaigner Bryan Staring (28) riding for the Agro-On Benjan #kawasaki Team, alongside two others - David McFadden (25) from South Africa and Julian Puffe (20) from Germany. Staring has won three previous STK1000 races for #kawasaki and is hoping to make it more this season on the latest Ninja.

The MTM/HS #kawasaki Team features the talents of Dutch rider Wayne Tessels and Britain's Gregg Black. Tessels is a recent star in the Superstock 600 European Championship class, finishing runner up in 2014 before enjoying his first season of Stock 1000 #racing in 2015.

In total 16 riders are competing on the opening weekend of the STK1000 year on #kawasaki Ninja ZX-10Rs.

Qualifying will be a single session affair again in 2016 at each round, unlike the Superpole based WorldSBK and WorldSSP classes. The single race per weekend takes place on Sundays, after Superbike Race 2. The first STK1000 race of 2016 is scheduled for a 14.20 start this coming Sunday and will be held over 13 laps.
