This weekend, on the Spino time trial track known for its long tradition of success, marks the start of the #abarth Selenia Classic Cup, a championship reserved for #abarth and Fiat #abarth cars, organized into 5 events: 4 time trials and a final race on the Vallelunga track.
The gold standard of the Tuscan #event, held since 1965, has seen the #abarth 2000 Sport five times a winner, driven by Peter Schetty (1968), Domenico Scola (1969), "Riccardone" (1970), Johannes Ortner (1971), and "Gianfranco" (1972), not counting the countless class wins by the Scorpion models.
This great tradition gave birth to the #abarth Classic Cup, which revives the shows of yesteryear with historical cars competing in Aci Sport competitions.
The four uphill races are the Pieve Santo Stefano-Spino Pass (15 May), the Cefalù-Gibilmanna (26 June), the Cesana-Sestriere (10 July), and the Nevegal Alps (31 July); the final track race, 11 September, is on the Vallelunga track.
The Spino time trial program includes technical inspections at Pieve di Santo Stefano on Friday, 13 May; two rounds of qualifying sessions starting at 10:30 on Saturday; and the two heat races, starting at 10 and 1:30 on Sunday. The track is 7 kilometres long.
Abarth Classic will have a welcome area in the starting paddock, where it will be possible to complete the Cup registration process.
