Exceptional Gajser dominates MXGP of Spain with perfect weekend

Tim Gajser’s domination of the #mxgp of #spain continued today as the Slovenian set the fastest time in warm-up, and took a pair of runaway victories to win his fifth #mxgp of the season, and maintain his 100 per cent podium record.

It means that this weekend, Gajser topped the charts in every single session, extending his championship lead to 24 points.

In both races Tim started well on the 243 #crf450rw, and in the early laps it was a contest between he and Max Nagl. Putting up a good fight, Gajser nevertheless was the faster rider and wasted no time in taking the lead and delivering a series of fastest laps to runaway by a margin of 6.4 and 3.6 seconds respectively in the two races.

The #mxgp season moves to France and to St Jean d’Angely next weekend for the second of this back-to-back pair.

“It’s been such an amazing weekend. I couldn’t believe that I could top the charts in every session, or that at halfway through the season we could have finished on the podium at every single race, with five wins too. It’s an amazing feeling. This weekend also shows that we’re working in the right way to keep strong, because in the last few races I’ve made some rookie mistakes, and we’ve worked on this area a lot since Trentino so a double victory here is the perfect way to come back after a week off and shows that our work pays off immediately. I want to say thank you especially to the team this weekend and to my mechanic Nico and engineer Roger because there was big work between the races, and it’s such a great feeling to be able to deliver them the results. They do such a good job and I trust them completely to give me the perfect bike, and we definitely had a perfect bike this weekend.”

“Every race Tim surprises because he shows that he can just keep getting better, learning and moving forward. To have a perfect weekend at the top of every session is fantastic, and it moves Tim and #honda further ahead in the World Championship. Congratulations also to Gautier for making it two Hondas on the podium today!”
