An journey of sound through history

Under the slogan “From Past to Present”, current and former #racing drivers teamed up with engineers from the #porsche Development Centre in Weissach to present a selection of #racing cars at the #porsche Museum. With a total of 1000 visitors, the #event was once again completely sold out this year.

World Rally Champion Walter Röhrl was also in attendance, and spoke about his dramatic race at the 1981 San Remo Rally in northern Italy. Back then, Röhrl attempted an exciting comeback in the #porsche 911 SC together with his co-driver Christian Geistdörfer. However, the pair were forced to stop while in second place due to a broken drive shaft. From 2008 onwards, the #porsche Museum's team of mechanics restored this 911 SC, which, together with Röhrl and Geistdörfer, was finally able to make its comeback at Targa Tasmania 2011.

Visitors were able to listen to the engines

The 718 RS 60 Spyder was accompanied on stage by Herbert Linge, who drove the vehicle on the mountain roads of Sicily this year at the 100th edition of the Targa Florio. From 1960, #porsche has experienced some of its greatest successes so far in endurance #racing with the RS 60. This includes the 44th Targa Florio, in which Joakim Bonnier and Hans Herrmann took the overall victory for #porsche with a lead of over six minutes.

Visitors were also able to listen to the engine of the winning vehicle from Le Mans in 1977. The 936/77 Spyder was presented by #racing legend Jürgen Barth. Later on in the evening, visitors had the chance to enjoy the engine sounds of the 804 Formula 1 #racing car from 1962, the 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 from 1974 and the 956 C. Some of the latest vehicles were also present, including the new 718 Boxster and the 911 R.
