KTM RC Cup Asia: ready to race in 2017

KTM is very pleased to announce the launch of the #ktmrccup #asia, an important new step in 2017 in the increasingly popular and now very international #ktmrccup #racing activities. The series, now established in Europe and the Americas is capturing the hearts and imagination of the next generation of road #racing champions.

KTM Customer Sport, the special unit staffed by #racing and technical experts dedicated to bringing the thrill of #racing to a new generation, is in charge of all #ktmrccup competitions worldwide. The first competition began in 2014 with the ADAC Junior Cup, and during the 2016 Nero Giardini Motorrad Grand Prix von Österreich (the MotoGP of Austria at the Red Bull Ring), the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer and ADAC announced an extension to their successful collaboration on KTM CUP bikes for the next three years.

Meanwhile, the KTM RC 390 motorcycle is now known as a super sport street bike that delivers a big hit of adrenalin from a relatively small engine capacity. Austria's KTM brand is proud of its READY TO RACE DNA but understands there is always the potential for more. The KTM RC 390 in its sporty ‘CUP' guise, and complete with a host of race-focused KTM PowerParts and fully adjustable WP Suspension, becomes a fully-fledged track weapon and an ideal tool for junior riders to begin their trade.

The success of the #ktmrccup in Germany's ADAC series soon created a demand for CUP machines as similar series came to the fore. In 2016, KTM RC 390 CUP bikes battled it out as part of road #racing championships in North America, United Kingdom, France, Benelux, Finland, Mexico, and Italy. Now the 2017 #ktmrccup expands into #asia to answer the demands for this attractive series to join the motorsports calendar in this very vibrant market.

Hubert Trunkenpolz (CSO KTM GROUP): “Competition is in our DNA. The global RC CUP format is one element of the strategy of bringing READY TO RACE to our customers. In addition to our massive Factory #racing program, KTM invests heavily into customer sports activities. With our RC product line-up and the dedicated RC CUP specification, the perfect instrument is in place to involve any track oriented rider and with an unbeatable cost scenario."

As KTM is a global family, the best riders from all of the series are invited to participate in the World Final. The first of these World Finals was at the British #racing circuit of Silverstone in 2015. In 2016, the best your riders were invited to race together at the Dutch circuit of Assen. This tradition of an end-of-season international final is set to continue at a leading European circuit at the end of 2017, and for the first time, the #ktmrccup #asia winner will be on the starting grid. The series winner will receive a sponsored KTM ride at the international final, a voucher for 1,000 euros for KTM PowerWear and KTM PowerParts, paid travel and hotel expenses, a fully prepped KTM RC 390 race bike for the race weekend and KTM trackside support.

Parallel to this premium "orange" class, which will identify and encourage emerging talent, the #ktmrccup #asia will also include two additional categories, the Silver and Bronze classes for track-adapted standard bikes. The #ktmrccup #asia is open to riders from all over Southeast #asia and Japan.
