Mixed emotions after tense Barcelona battle, as Lewis claims victory but Valtteri retires
- Lewis took his 55th career victory today – his second at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, and second of the 2017 season.
- Valtteri experienced his first retirement as a Silver Arrows driver with a mechanical failure on lap 39
- Lewis set the fastest lap of the race for the third time this season – the 50th Formula One fastest lap for the three pointed star
- Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport (161 points) lead the Constructors’ Championship by eight points from Ferrari (153 points) in P2
- Lewis (98 points) closes the gap on Sebastian Vettel (104 points) to just six points in the Drivers’ Championship, with Valtteri (63 points) a further 35 points back in P3
