On to Austin: The Formula 1 race at the Circuit of the Americas this weekend will be the sixth at this particular venue. Lewis Hamilton has had three consecutive wins there over the past three years. He also won in 2012 when the track made its F1 debut. His special affinity for the US Grand Prix became apparent in 2015 when he clinched his third world championship ahead of time with a tenth win of the season. The last three pole positions in Austin have also been claimed by a Silver Arrows driver: in 2016, it was Lewis, while in 2014 and 2015, it was his team-mate Nico Rosberg.

Stat-Attack - #dtm 2017: The 2017 #dtm came to an end last Sunday with the traditional fireworks display at Hockenheim, the home race for Mercedes-AMG Motorsport. Audi feted their new #dtm champion, René Rast, while the brand with the three-pointed star had to settle for the runner-up spot in the constructors' championship. During the course of the 18 races in 2017, the Mercedes-AMG C 63 #dtm drivers qualified in pole position on four occasions, registered six victories and made 14 podium appearances. The most successful member of the squad was Austria's Lucas Auer, who occupied the top rung of the podium three times. That put him on level pegging with champion Rast and Jamie Green (Audi) in terms of race wins. Paul Di Resta, Maro Engel and #robertwickens also lifted one race winner's trophy each. All six Mercedes-AMG Motorsport #dtm drivers ascended the podium at least once during the season.

Drivers' and team titles in the Blancpain GT Series Asia: Hunter Abbott (GBR) came to the grand finale of the Blancpain GT Series Asia with a four-point deficit on the championship leader. He had one clear objective - to outsmart his main rival in the two remaining races and take the title. Abbott and his co-driver Maxi Buhk (GER) in the GruppeM #racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 got their weekend off to a promising start in Race 1, in which they finished third after qualifying fourth. They then came fourth in the second race after once again moving up one place. The points haul from the two races was enough to take Mercedes-AMG GT3 man Abbott up to the top of the drivers' standings and secure him the 2017 Blancpain GT Series Asia title. "My thanks go to everyone on the GruppeM #racing team for having provided me with this great car and to all the fans for their great support," said Abbott. "It was the only way I was ever going to make this fantastic season possible." The two results were also enough for GruppeM #racing to top the team standings.
