Moto3 - Bastianini battles to seize second row start at Mugello. Fourth row for Di Giannantonio

Comunicato Stampa disponibile solo in lingua originale.

Both riders of the Gresini #racing Team #moto3 enjoyed a good Qualifying session for the Italian Grand Prix this afternoon at #mugello: #eneabastianini, back on track after his right wrist fracture that forced him in the pits at Le Mans, set the sixth fastest time with 1’57”994 and tomorrow he will start from the second row of the grid. His team mate #fabiodigiannantonio will start instead from the fourth row with the twelfth fastest time, 1’58”228.

Bastianini and Di Giannantonio have therefore achieved a good starting position and will have the opportunity to try to stay in the leading pack in a race that promises to be hard fought, as always.

ENEA BASTIANINI (6th - 1'57"994)
“I’m very happy! It was a very good qualifying although difficult and chaotic, as always here at #mugello, where all riders are looking for slipstreams. IN the final stages I had the potential to improve my lap time, but I have not found a good tow and so I couldn’t make the most of my last run. However, I’m still satisfied with second row: it was a beautiful day, I enjoyed myself a lot! I didn’t expect to be in such good shape this weekend: I feel some pain in the wrist, but I can handle it, and this is undoubtedly very positive. We didn’t make long runs, so we don’t know yet how long I will be able to resist in the race, but anyway it would have been useless to stress my arm. Tomorrow we will do everything we can and I will fight till the end to try to stay in the leading group”.

FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO (12th - 1'58"228)
“On the one hand I’m happy because more or less we have confirmed the qualifying performance achieved at Le Mans, and this shows that we have maintained a good level. On the other hand I’m a little disappointed because frankly I expected something more today; on this track the Qualifying session is always very chaotic and often you lost a lot of time in the traffic. However, the fourth row is not so bad: tomorrow we will try to make a good start, trying to pass some riders, then we will try to stay in the leading group. We will work to improve some aspect of the bike for the race, but we already have a good set up and I am convinced that we can do well”.

FAUSTO GRESINI
“I’m very happy for Bastianini: returning on track after an injury is never easy and he performed very well today. Among other things, Enea set his best time without slipstream, showing that he could get more. Tomorrow he can surely have a good race. Di Giannantonio has been fastest in every practice session, but today he missed a bit of experience to make the most of the Qualifying session; anyway the fourth row is not so bad on this circuit and I think that Fabio tomorrow can have a good race too. He has a good pace and I hope that he can be consistent also in the race, like he did during practice”.
