YZ125 Cup action heats up around Europe

Comunicato Stampa disponibile solo in lingua originale.

The #yz125cup is underway across Europe. Young bLU cRU riders 16 years old and under in Finland, Sweden, Belgium, Spain and Germany are already on their way to qualifying for the October 8th Superfinale at the Veltins Arena in Germany after thrilling races at their local motocross tracks.

In Finland Spring can be wet, but bLU cRUriders at the recent #yz125cup race in Vantaa, north of Helsinki, got lucky in their two motos with sunny and dry conditions after a muddy morning warm up.  Joonas Näppi rode himself onto the 125cc podium in third overall, first among bLU cRU riders. The Finnish teenager came back from two crashes in the first #moto to finish eighth, then rode a flawless second race to come fourth.

In total six Finnish bLU cRU riders lined up in the 44-man field, with three in the top 20. Samuli Jokiniemi finished fourth on the day, riding with strong consistency to sixth and fourth in the two motos. Also on the points at Vantaa were Jere Vähä-Karvia, Santeri Keränen and Aapo Lukkarinen, with Aatu Kokko further down.

Finnish bLU cRU riders are trying to qualify for the two spots available to them at the #yz125cup Superfinale in front of 60,000 fans at the Veltins Arena in Germany in October. Young #yamaha riders from all over Europe will race on the same track as motocross superstars Romain Febvre and Jeremy Van Horebeek from the Monster Energy #yamaha Factory MXGP Team, and the top six finishers, plus two wildcards, will attend a Master Class with 2008 FIM Motocross World Champion David Philippaerts to compete for a prestigious professional contract in 2017.

Two lucky bLU cRU riders in Germany's YZ125 Cup recently visited the track at Teutschenthal during the MXGP of Germany for a hands-on VIP experience with #yamaharacing teams at the top of the sport. Together with their families on a sunny day near Halle, the young riders also got a 'behind-the-scenes' tour of the MXGP television studio, team paddocks and the exclusive #yamaha Sky Box to watch all the weekend's motocross action.

In Sweden the #yz125cup is currently led by Tim Edberg of the Mafi #yamaha MX Team, the same squad that brought current MX2 rider Alvin Östlund to motocross races before he signed a contract with WIlvo Standing Construct #yamaha Official MX2 Team.

Also in the hunt for one of the four Superfinale spots for Sweden are Arvid Lüning, Rasmus Holm, Melvin Bladh and Hugo Johannson. The #yz125cup in Sweden is run together with the 7-round MXSM competition series.

More races are taking place every week as bLU cRU riders on their YZ125s gather at motocross tracks around Europe in pursuit of the same dream: A spot at the Superfinale in October and the chance to race for one of eight spots at a master class with David Philippaerts to find the best #yz125cup rider of 2016 and sign him to a professional contract in 2017.
