Mercedes AMG Petronas concluded this week’s in-season #test at #silverstone today with Mercedes-Benz Junior driver Esteban Ocon at the wheel of the #f1 W07 Hybrid
- Esteban emerged for his first run at 09:00 this morning, completing 59 laps before the hour-long lunch break at 13:30 and a further 80 laps in the afternoon – finishing for the day at 17:55
- Today’s morning programme focused on aerodynamic developments and data logging using various aero rakes – an educational exercise for future car development & wind tunnel correlation
- In the afternoon, the team focused on car setup work and race simulations
- Fellow Mercedes-Benz Junior driver Pascal Wehrlein was also in action today, completing 128 laps of tyre testing with Pirelli at the wheel of the #f1 W05 Hybrid (2014)
- Mercedes-Benz Power Units (excluding that used by Pascal) today completed a total of 2,215 km
Esteban Ocon
I felt really comfortable in the car today. We were able to do 139 laps and finished all of our planned programmes. We started the day with some aerodynamic tests which went well. Then, in the afternoon, I was able to improve my driving with every lap – especially using the soft tyres. I am really thankful for the opportunity the team have given. It’s really allowed me to learn a lot.
