Seewer & Suzuki 2nd overall at Czech mx2

Team #suzuki Press Office – July 24.

Jeremy Seewer powered his RM-Z250 to an eighth podium result of the season by scoring a brilliant second position overall at Loket for the Grand Prix of Czech Republic today.

The Team #suzuki World MX2 rider made the most of a positive and fast feeling around the undulating hard-pack to notch #moto results of third and second, as the 13th round of 18 this year took place under cloudy and changeable skies where the threat of a brief shower was never far away.

Some 25,000 spectators (weekend figure) defied the unstable but warm conditions to find a spot around the hillside venue that houses a curling and slick layout with the hard and stony terrain pushing throttle control to the fore in the search for optimum traction.

Seewer placed third in a muddy Qualification race on Saturday and was confident of his speed, rhythm and potential for Sunday. In the first #moto he made a start on the edge of the top five and then played a part in an immensely watchable tussle for second position behind the escaping Dylan Ferrandis. Seewer took his time to pass Brian Bogers and Adam Sterry to move into second place but had little reply to the charging figure of Max Anstie. He ended the 30-minute and two laps with third spot. Later in the afternoon, and for the second #moto, Seewer was again in the top-three. Ferrandis was distant once more and Seewer had his hands full with Anstie. On this occasion the Swiss dealt admirably with his British rival and swept to second place to earn the ‘second step of the box’ and equal his career and season best result.

The 42 points scored means that he continues to sit second in the MX2 table and he ate away the same tally from the absent Jeffery Herlings’ hefty advantage at the top; the difference is now 127. He is chased by Pauls Jonass who is 67 adrift in third spot and who crashed out of the Grand Prix while leading the first #moto

Brian Hsu endured a few technical issues on Saturday that left him in the middle of the gate. The German – in just his third Grand Prix appearance since recovering from a left wrist break – started in 11th place and then battled on the edge of the top leaderboard slots to cross the line in 14th. He then backed-that-up with another 14th in the second outing for 12th overall.

Bas Vaessen took a break from EMX250 European Championship duty (the Euro boys are next on track for round nine of 10 next week in Belgium) to make a Grand Prix outing on his RM-Z250 and rode to 19th position overall. The Dutchman enjoyed a best classification of 13th in the motos; finishing outside of the points in the first and then narrowly beating Hsu in the second.

The Grand Prix of Belgium will bring MXGP close to the team’s workshop next week. Round 14 will demand a very different and physical test as the sand of Lommel – a popular test and practice facility for the sheer difficulty of the surface – will be the next course to conquer for the FIM World Championship elite.

Jeremy Seewer:

“I’m pretty happy. I had a little bit of fear of pushing too hard today; Loket is a special track and you can very easily get things wrong and make a big mistake. The weather changed quite a bit and it was tricky out there. Anstie and Ferrandis just had that extra half a second a lap today but I’m quite pleased to make the podium again and take some good points. Anyway, onto the sand now!”

Brian Hsu:

“I’m still struggling a little bit for the full motos so my goal was to come here and have fun and see where we could end up. The track was nice to ride; quite technical because you had to mix throttle control and technique.”

Bas Vaessen:

“It was an awesome experience today. I messed up the start of the first #moto and crashed on the first lap but still made a lot of positions to almost get some points. In the second #moto my start was much better and I finished 13th; which was great! It wasn’t the easiest track to do your first GP of the year but it went better than I expected.”
