Podium Finish Sees Toprak And The Ninja ZX-10R Top Five Overall

After the FIM Superstock 1000 FIM Cup season concluded with the #jerez race in Spain #toprakrazgatlioglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) took his Ninja ZX-10R to a top five overall finish for the year, thanks to a fighting podium finish of third at the final round.

Despite three no-scores through the season for Toprak - some because of an early season injury - he has ended up on the same 70 points total as the rider ranked in fourth. Razgatlioglu is classified fifth after the count-back of best individual results is taken into account.

The young Turkish rider has now scored two podium places on the 2016 Ninja, with his third spot in #jerez added to his second place in France last time out.

Razgatlioglu’s #jerez race result was all the more creditworthy as he had only qualified in 17th position and had to make up places quickly in the 15 lap race. He had achieved a top three track position by half race distance but was by then too far behind the leading duo to make a challenge for the win.

Jeremy Guarnoni (Pedercini #racing Kawasaki) was in contention for a #jerez podium place himself at one stage but crashed out of the race on lap three. This put him eighth in the final championship rankings. His best season performance was a second place, at the second round at Assen.

Bryan Staring (Agro-on Benjan Kawasaki) was another podium finisher for #kawasaki in 2016, with a second place at the Lausitzring in Germany. He was a retiree at the #jerez round and finished the season 16th, after his own long recovery from a serious leg fracture.

Gregg Black (MTM / HS Kawasaki) did not make the race after a pre-race practice crash that also halted the #jerez ambitions of Jack Kennedy (Agro-on Benjan Kawasaki). Black completed his season 14th in the final rankings. His team-mate Wayne Tessels (MTM / HS Kawasaki) was finally 18th in the rankings.

In all, the Ninja ZX-10R took a total of four podium finishes in its first year as a Superstock 1000 FIM Cup machine.

Toprak Razgatlioglu, stated: “Qualifying was disappointing because I was only 17th on the grid when I was hoping for a top five. But I finished the weekend and the season in a good way. I did not expect to make a podium from where I started but the race is always different from practice. I am very happy to finish on the podium in the last race of the season, and move up the final points table.”
