Hagara and Steinacher in #bermuda for Red Bull Youth America’s Cup test.
Sea trials have already begun in #bermuda ahead of the second Red Bull Youth America’s Cup in June.
Double Olympic champions #romanhagara and #hanspetersteinacher have sailed over the first Red Bull Youth America’s Cup-branded AC45F catamaran with less than one hundred days to go until the start of the main 35th America’s Cup #event.
The decorated Austrian pair joined up with America's Cup sailors from ORACLE TEAM USA and SoftBank Team Japan to conduct the initial sea trials across the Great Sound.
Hagara revealed, "The sea trials went perfectly. The boats will go twice as fast, probably, as last time – and they are harder to sail, more physical. Teamwork will be very important."
Twelve countries will be represented in the youth regatta from June 12-21, the teams allowed seven days to train with the rare boats before the #event.
The Qualifiers will be played out across two pools of six from June 12-16 with the top four from each pool going on to compete in the hotly contested June 20-21 Finals.
Two-time America’s Cup-winning skipper Jimmy Spithill has described the regatta as “the gateway for the next generation into the America’s Cup. It’s essentially what college football is to the NFL – a breeding ground of new talent. And it works."
