Race win for Livia Lancelot in Italy

Livia Lancelot raced to her first #moto win of this year's FIM WMX Women's World Motocross Championship at Pietramurata in northern Italy aboard her Monster Energy Team One One Four #kawasaki.
The defending world champion never felt comfortable on Saturday and was content to simply consolidate her early season scoring in the first #moto when she finished fifth in slight drizzle after a moderate start. But the French lady turned up the volume in the second race of the weekend on Sunday morning to snatch the lead two laps from the end to race to an unchallenged victory. Holding down fourth place after the initial sort-out she was content at first to keep a watching brief as the leaders battled ferociously in a manner which was to eventually prove to be their downfall on a treacherous track where overnight rain saw deep ruts develop quickly. With the sun shining Livia moved to third place on lap three and she took over second place three laps later, finally moving ahead two laps from the end of the 25-minute race. The victory earnt her third place over the weekend and she is now also third in the series, just sixteen shy of the points leader with two-thirds of the series still to run.
Livia Lancelot: «When I came here on Friday I had good feeling after a good period of training this week, but when I was on the track I didn't have so much fun to ride. My bad start in the first race didn’t help either, but in the evening we finally found something that can explain why I was not riding so well on Saturday. This morning was completely different; I was more relaxed and I found a better feeling with the track. The track was rough; for sure some other riders crashed but I kept my rhythm all race long, didn’t make any mistakes and finally I was rewarded with this #moto win. It’s great to be back on the podium as the season didn’t start so well for me; after Indonesia I realised that my winter preparation was not perfect, so we’ve worked really hard the last fifteen days and this weekend was a first step. Now we’ll have more time to prepare for the next round in France.”
