KTM introduces rc 390 model year 2016 and international cup racing at ‘rc cup media challenge’

In reflection of its ability to utilize motorsport driven technology and development directly into its range of exciting and high quality sportmotorcycles, KTM chose to introduce its newly revised KTM RC 390 to the world’s press with the unique ‘RC CUP Media Challenge’ concept.

Twenty journalists representing ten countries were brought to the technical Autodromo di Modena in Italy where KTM officials presented the upcoming fully-faired Supersports bike and offered them to experience the high potential of its CUP variation race machine, developed alongside it.

The KTM RC 390 CUP is a worldwide available #product by KTM, focused purely for track action in internationally promoted CUP race series but which is also intended to be a perfect track bike choice for any generation of Sportsbike riders.

RC 390 modifications
With almost two years of riding under the RC 390 road bike’s wheels, updates for the model year 2016 reflect the continued development KTM invests into its products. These changes concentrate mainly on improvements in comfort, usability and exceeding Euro 4 regulations to match all international standards without a loss of performance.

The stable, sporty and lightweight steel trellis chassis and cast aluminum swingarm remain unchanged and is once again matched perfectly to the advanced single-cylinder 373.2cm3 engine, punching out an impressive 44hp from its compact 36kg unit. In 2016, the delivery is managed by state-of-the-art ride by wire system allowing it to be smoother and more efficient. Control of the machine is further improved with the introduction of a slipper clutch, a larger 320mm brake disc (+20mm) and span adjustable levers.

A conventional side-mounted exhaust with the catalytic converter inside the muffler replaces the previous underbody system, requiring a new bellypan design. Boosting comfort is improved padding to the rider and passenger seats along with larger mirrors, still with integral indicators.

Ride faster – RC 390 CUP
Hand in hand with the important production motorcycle, the high-revving Austrian company further develops the RC 390 CUP mission. Beginning in 2014, this machine was used in well-established nationally CUP formats to filter, support and catapult the next generation of road #racing stars. Since then, over 500 CUP specification bikes have been created with individual championships in Germany, Holland, UK, USA, Mexico and Finland taking place and are joined in 2016 by the latest participants, France and Italy.

Available to order at KTM dealers across the world complete with a professional spare parts supply chain, it was time for the media to put the knee down at the modern circuit in Modena to experience the high quality track prepared bike that benefits from a huge range of readily available official KTM PowerParts.

True team spirit was required when journalists had to prove their riding and tactic skills to complete the RC CUP Media Challenge. High five to all participants and champagne for the winning team, with Renaud Amand from MaxxMoto (Belgium) and Sam Fleming from Road #racing World (USA) tucked in the best behind the RC 390 CUP #racing screen.
