Bastianini third and Di Giannantonio sixth as Brno begins

Today’s first two Free Practice sessions of the Czech Grand Prix at Brno saw the two riders of the Gresini #racing Team #moto3 quickly in the groove, enjoying a promising start of the weekend: #eneabastianini was third fastest in the combined classification of the times with a lap of 2’08”219, while his teammate #fabiodigiannantonio finished the day not far away, in sixth place with a best time of 2’08”631.

Bastianini worked well with the team since the morning session, ended on top, then he made further improvements in the afternoon, beaten only by Brad Binder and Andrea Migno. The 18-year-old rider from Rimini is already pleased with the behavior of his bike with old tyres and tomorrow he will try to make further progress.

The day was also positive for 17-year-old rookie #fabiodigiannantonio, who improved his morning performance by 0.8 seconds in the afternoon, thus closing the combined classification just 0.5 seconds off the pace. Tomorrow “Diggia” will work on his bike set-up especially to improve corner entry.

ENEA BASTIANINI (3rd - 2'08"219)
“This morning the track was not in the best conditions, and also a little damp after a few drops of rain before the start of the practice session. Therefore after the first run on track we worked on the set-up to adapt the bike to the track, then I was able to get a good lap time and also a good feeling with the bike. In the afternoon we continued to work, assessing strengths and weaknesses of the solutions adopted in the morning and making further progress. I could keep a good pace on used tires, although it’s still not enough because for sure tomorrow lap times will drop. In the final stages of the second session I also set the best performance, but then two riders passed me: I’m happy anyway because I set that lap time alone and with a rider who slowed me down a little. So I can be satisfied!”.

FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO (6th - 2'08"631)
“We arrived in Brno really confident after very good tests carried out here in July: in fact we started off the weekend very well since the morning session. The very positive thing is that we made good progress throughout the whole day, improving at every run. Tomorrow we will work to improve corner entry, especially at turn 4, 6 and 9, where I feel that the bike is still moving a bit. If we can solve these little problems we can improve a lot!”.
FAUSTO GRESINI
“Definitely a positive first day for both our riders: in the closing stages of the second session Bastianini was beaten by two riders, but Enea has been in the lead for most of the day and today the final position is not so important. Enea is still not satisfied one hundred percent of the bike and the track is not in the best conditions yet, so tomorrow we will continue to work in order to improve ahead of the Qualifying session. Also Di Giannantonio is already very close to the top and it’s positive that the conditions of his left arm have improved. We are satisfied, now we need to stay focused ahead of tomorrow hoping for good weather on Sunday”.
