Sam Lowes just misses out on pole in Brno qualifying

Aboard the Team Federal Oil Gresini #moto2 Kalex machine, #samlowes enjoyed a great Qualifying session for the Czech Grand Prix this afternoon at #brno. The 25-year-old British rider narrowly missed the pole position with a lap time of 2’01”614, clocked in the closing stages of the session. Lowes was beaten on the finish line by just 0.033 seconds by Championship leader Johann Zarco, who was closely following Sam in his latest attempt.

An excellent performance that bodes well for tomorrow’s race, also considering that Lowes can also count on a good pace. The 20-lap race will kick off tomorrow at 12.20.

SAM LOWES (2nd - 2'01"614)
“At the end of the Qualifying I did the fastest lap, but behind me Zarco passed me for almost nothing, so I can be happy because Johann is full of confidence after a very good run of races and the fact that he beat us for only 0.033 seconds, following me, is good and means that we are coming back in the good direction. Germany has always been difficult for me and Austria was difficult, but we took the positives from the last two races and now we are back, so now we just need to stay focused and try to do a good job tomorrow. The team is working good and the bike feels great. We have a good pace for tomorrow, I think that me and Zarco we have a quite similar pace so we can try to pull away. I feel relaxed and really confident in dry conditions; I still feel good if it will be wet, and it will the same for everyone though, so we will see”.

FAUSTO GRESINI
“Sam and the team did a great job all weekend, constantly improving, thus achieving a good race pace and also finding the speed for Qualifying. Too bad only to miss the pole position, but Zarco, who is already very strong, was in the best position to take advantage of Sam’s reference in his last lap, thus beating us for almost nothing on the finish line. This is the only little regret, but we know that we are competitive for the race: the most important day is tomorrow!”.
