Yamaha In Contention For Top Honours After Stage One At Morocco Rally

Finishing the first full day of competition at the OiLibya #moroccorally without any difficulties, all four Yamalube #yamaha Official Rally Team riders find themselves inside the top 15 in the provisional standings. With the race now entering Morocco's desert dunes Alessandro Botturi, Hélder Rodrigues, Adrien Van Beveren and Rodney Faggotter remain in the fight for a good final result at this week-long adventure in the heart of the north African country.
Starting from the city of Agadir, the first stage at the OiLibya #moroccorally saw riders follow a straight line towards the south and next to the Atlantic ocean. Faced with heavy winds and a lot of dust #yamaharacing riders were assigned with the demanding task to open the tracks for the greatest part of both special stages.
Effectively battling his way through a day of tricky navigation Alessandro Botturi wrapped up the day with 7/8 results in the two special stages to place himself ninth in the rally's provisional overall standings. The Italian is closely followed in 11th by his teammate Hélder Rodrigues.
Less than 20 seconds behind in 12th sits Adrien Van Beveren, with Australian Rodney Faggotter 14th overall after stage one. Continuing his strong run at this year's #moroccorally, WR450F mounted Frenchman Xavier de Soultrait is currently 10th in the overall standings.
Heading from the ocean to the dunes, stage two of the OiLibya #moroccorally will be the longest in this year's #event. With a total distance of 554 km tomorrow's stage two will see competitors race a special stage of 291 km.
