Sant’Agata Bolognese/Brands Hatch, May 7, 2017
Pole position, new track record and win in both races. The Grasser #racing Team #lamborghini #huracangt3 #63 dominated the race weekend at Brands Hatch, during the second round of the prestigious #blancpaingt Series Sprint Cup championship.
After Monza's victory at the end of April, opening round of the #blancpaingt #endurance Cup, the Austrian team built its success on Saturday, during the qualifying sessions: Mirko Bortolotti, #lamborghini Squadra Corse Factory Driver, produced a faultless lap. The chronographs stopped at 1’22.891, which is almost half a second quicker than the previous lap record.
The Qualifying Race on Sunday, saw the #huracangt3 # 63 starting from the pole position and  easily held on to the lead. During the first stint, Mirko Bortolotti immediately set a qualifying rhythm that allowed him to gain a good margin on the Rowe’s BMW M6 GT3 and leave the car to his teammate Christian Engelhart for the second half of the race. Engelhart continued to gain advantage over the trackers up to a few minutes from the end, when the release of the safety car re-grouped all the cars. But Lamborghini's Factory Driver Christian Engelhart managed to keep his first position up to the checkered flag winning ahead the BMW M6 GT3 and sister car #19 of GRT Team with Norbert Siedler and Ezequiel Perez Companc.
Top ten finish for the #66 #huracangt3 of Attempto #racing team, with #lamborghini Factory Drivers Marco Mapelli and Giovanni Venturini in a solid P9 out of 31 cars on track.
The Main Race, four hours later, was a kind of déjà vu. Christian Engelhart, who started from pole position thanks to the victory in race 1, took the first corner in the first position and kept it smooth until the pit stop window was opened for the driver change. Mirko Bortolotti returned to the track in P1 and started to gain seconds of advantage, winning the race ahead the two Audi R8 LMS’ of WRT team.
The next round of the #blancpaingt Series is scheduled on May 13 to 14 in Silverstone, with the second round of the #endurance Cup which is coinciding with the second round of the one-make series #lamborghini Super Trofeo Europa.
