Jeffrey Herlings remains unbeatable in the MXGP class
and extends his lead in the championship standings; Jorge Prado wins MX2 but
the Red Plate still belongs to Pauls Jonass
Teutschenthal (Germany), 21 May 2018 – A large audience welcomed the riders at
Teutschenthal for the
Grand Prix of Germany, the eighth round of
FIM 2018 Motocross World Championship, which was hosted by the historic
Talkessel circuit. All the riders equipped by
Pirelli tyres relied on the
SCORPION™ MX32™ Mid Soft front and rear for the German hard-pack and the products once again confirmed their technical efficiency by winning in all classes.
An unstoppable
Jeffrey Herlings won again in
MXGP. The Dutchman, posted his sixth overall victory of the season, won the Qualification Heat and both races and brought his championship lead over
Antonio Cairoli to 48 points. There was an excellent second place for
Tim Gajser who led
Gautier Paulin. The Frenchman repeated the third place he grabbed in Latvia last week.
Romain Febvre performed well and
Antonio Cairoli also for fifth and sixth overall.
In
MX2 Jorge Prado and
Pauls Jonass finished the
Grand Prix on equal points but overall victory belonged to the Spaniard thanks to the second moto win.
Jonass continues to front the championship standings followed by his team mate.
Calvin Vlaanderen closed the
MX2 podium which was dominated by
Pirelli.
Thomas Kjer Olsen was eighth overall and keeps third position in the championship.
Thanks to the status of runner-up in the fourth round of
EMX125 European championship at
Teutschenthal,
Rene Hofer has widened his margin at the top of the series standings. The Austrian now has a gap of 48 points over his pursuers.
In two weeks time, the riders will be engaged in the
British Grand Prix which will be hosted, as usual, by the spectacular
Matterley Basin circuit.
