Pierre Goupillon on the podium in England

Pierre Goupillon raced to a podium finish for Bud #racing Monster Energy Kawasaki in the British round of the FIM European EMX250 #motocross Championship at Matterley Basin in Hampshire.

The young Frenchman has been handicapped by crashes since taking victory at the opening round of the series in Spain in March, but he displayed great resolve in England to finish both motos in the top ten and secure third overall over the weekend. He held a strong fourth place in the Saturday evening #moto until one small error cost him several places and he finished ninth and he added a solid third place on Sunday morning after leading the race for three laps. Pierre is now eighth in the series standings.

Pierre Goupillon: “It’s great to be back on the podium after a difficult period for me as I didn’t score any points at the last two rounds. I finally got back on the podium and it’s a great motivation before the French round of the series next weekend. I never stopped working since the beginning of the season, and we’ll continue to do so as my goal is to win some other races. This weekend one of my goal was to stay on two wheels and I did it; the result could have been even better if I hadn’t lost four positions when I made a mistake in the first race before a jump.”

The FIM MX2 GP was a disappointment for the F&H #racing Team as Jed Beaton crashed heavily in the second #moto, breaking both legs, after #racing to a solid eighth place in race one. GP rookie Ruben Fernandez showed great promise by holding third place for four laps of the first race before gradually fading back to thirteenth and he then finished sixteenth in race two. On his comeback from injury Adam Sterry took twelfth place in race one.

Darian Sanayei's brave comeback from a knee injury sustained in March was handicapped when his starting device jammed at the start of race one and he later had to withdraw with a painful knee. He was again advancing through the pack in race two until the throttle was damaged in a minor incident but he hopes to contest next weekend's French GP with a successful result.
