SMART EQ FORTWO E-CUP CHAMPIONSHIP: THE FIRST ELECTRIC MONO-BRAND PROTAGONIST IN THE GREAT ROAD EVENT "MILANO RALLY SHOW”


After the debut at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, #smarteqfortwoecup championship was the first electric mono-brand championship to compete in a famous Italian event, the #milanorallyshow. The winner of the rally was the LPD team, with drivers Giuseppe Bodega and Marco Panzavuota, ahead of Lembo-D’Amico (Gelateria Sigel) and Capra-Cardarelli (Mercedes-Benz Venus dealership).

(Peschiera Borromeo, MI, Italy, 30 July 2018) - The city of Milan was transformed for the second edition of the #milanorallyshow, one of the most important motoring events for the Lombard capital. The event saw the exclusive participation of #smarteqfortwoecup championship, at the start with 18 cars, which after taking part in the first round of the trophy, at Misano circuit, was the first electric mono-brand championship to run a rally.

After the inaugural Saturday parade the show involved the most important streets of Milan, with departure from Area Expo, a stop at Piazza Gae Aulenti and the passage through the most famous streets, from via Manzoni to Piazza Duomo, from Piazza della Scala to via Montenapoleone.

The exclusive Mercedes zero emission trophy covered eight of the nine special stages, for a total of 173.55 km, of which 62.40 km were the kilometres of tests in which the drivers gave a show at the helm of the Mercedes "citycar ". The city circuits facing the challenges were the Velodrome Vigorelli (Area City Life), "IL CENTRO" of Arese and the Park Experience Area Expo.

Participation in the #milanorallyshow was guaranteed by the reliability of our partners, one for all Enel X, thanks to which the 18 Mercedes cars were recharged in the latest generation platforms in just 3 hours, ensuring maximum performance in the long and demanding two-day program. Safety has been guaranteed also by the use of Pirelli Cinturato P1 #green road tires that had already shown great performance in the circuit.

At the end of this exciting round, the second of the Championship, the general ranking presents two leaders. With a total of 58 points Fulvio Ferri (Forte Group) and Piergiorgio Capra (Mercedes-Benz Venus dealership) have the same points in this trophy that is proving very challenging, with the “zero emissions” #citycar by Mercedes great protagonists. Second in the ranking is Marco Panzavuota (LPD team), winner of the rally, with 51 points, who precedes Alberto Lembo, second in the rally, with 14 points from the leader.
