Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross seeks to continue winning streak north of the border

Championship leaders hope to make it three wins from three races as the Americas Rallycross Championship heads for its inaugural trip to Canada.

Herndon, VA  — The Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team ventures north this weekend as the Americas Rallycross Championship (ARX) makes its inaugural visit to the Trois-Rivières circuit in Quebec, Canada for the third round of the 2018 championship. Coming off a nearly flawless race meeting at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, Scott Speed hopes to extend his narrow championship lead over teammate and COTA third-place finisher Tanner Foust.

Speed earned his first victory of the 2018 season at the series’ last outing in COTA, driving his dominant No. 41 Oberto Circle K Beetle Rallycross to the front of nearly every session. Victory in the Lone Star State put the reigning rallycross champion at the top of the championship tables after his second-place finish in the season-opening round at Silverstone, granting him a familiar points position before round three at Trois-Rivières.

"I'm excited to get back on track this weekend with our dialed Beetle Rallycross," said Speed. "Some new competitors are #racing with us this weekend that are sure to make things interesting, but I'm confident that the Volkswagen Andretti team will put us in a great spot to earn some more points.”

While Foust’s COTA weekend didn’t result in a visit to the top step of the podium, the multiple rallycross champion believes fortune may smile on the No. 34 Rockstar Energy Drink Beetle Rallycross at Trois-Rivières, a track at which he has competed before.

“I’ve been looking forward to this race since the season’s schedule was announced earlier this year,” said Foust. “This will be a fun racetrack for us, and the Canadian fans are always incredibly passionate about motorsport, so I can't wait to give them a good show."

In Trois-Rivières, the Americas Rallycross racers will once again be joined by racers from the World Rallycross Championship (WRX), providing an opportunity to measure the Beetle Rallycross and Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team against the top competitors in the world.

Live coverage of the event will air on the ARX Facebook and YouTube pages throughout the weekend. For broadcast timing on the highlights show, please refer to www.arxrallycross.com for the latest information.
