Panasonic Jaguar Racing completes Formula E test ahead of season five

  • British team completes over 1,410km – the equivalent of the length of the island of Great Britain (Land’s End to John O’Groats)
  • Crucial data gathered ahead of inaugural Ad Diriyah E-Prix

Valencia, Spain, Friday 19 October 2018: Panasonic #Jaguar #racing today finalised its pre-season testing programme at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in #valencia, ahead of the 2018/19 ABB FIA Formula E Championship.

Nelson Piquet Jr and #mitchevans completed over 450 laps, more than any other team, at the Spanish venue in mixed conditions. The British team focused on the reliability, efficiency and performance of the all-new #Jaguar #itype3.

All 11 Formula E teams took part in the #valencia #test, which offered the only opportunity for the 22-car field to run on track together before the inaugural Ad Diriyah E-Prix on 15 December.

With over 800 new parts, including a powertrain built entirely in-house by #panasonicJaguarracing, the #Jaguar #itype3 is faster and more efficient than its predecessor.

James Barclay, Team Director #panasonicJaguarracing: “This week’s #test is the first time #panasonicJaguarracing have run both racecars on track together. It has given our team a lot of valuable data to run through ahead of the #Jaguar I-TYPE 3’s race debut.  We had a set programme, which focused on race simulations and energy management and this has proved to be very useful for our preparations. There’s a lot of positivity in the team and expectations are for a highly competitive season five, but we still have work to do before the first race in December.”

Nelson Piquet Jr, #panasonicJaguarracing, #3: “It is always enjoyable to get back in the car and see all the teams and drivers after months of hard work in the factory, on the simulator and in private testing. We’ve put in the most number of laps despite the rain and got some crucial information from our qualifying and race runs to assess between now and the first race. The team have done a great job and I can’t wait to get #racing in eight weeks time.”

Mitch Evans, #panasonicJaguarracing, #20: “The weather conditions today have been quite challenging, it’s not often we get rain in Formula E, but it has been a good opportunity to #test out the new #Jaguar #itype3 in different conditions. The car is still very new for everyone so every kilometre counts. I’m really enjoying the challenge of getting to grips with all the settings and power modes.”
