Moto2: Sidi kicks off the world series with Remy Gardner in 4th place on the Losail racetrack in Qatar, the australian rider got off to a very fast start, almost making it to the podium.

Maser (Treviso), 12 March, 2019 –Sidi continues being very happy with the results that speed brings us. After Alvaro Bautista scored some nice wins in the inaugural round of the Superbike World Series in Australia, the MotoGP World Series kicked off this last weekend with the first round of the season in Qatar.

Sidi scored a good result from the very start in the Qatar GP, which was held on the Losail speedway. Remy Gardner, the young Australian rider, deserves all the credit; in the Moto2 race he just missed making it to the podium, having to settle for an excellent fourth place, a mere 2 milliseconds behind Germany’s Marcel Schrotter, who took third place. In a hotly contested race, #remygardner remained in third place for most of the time, on a circuit where it is essential to take advantage of the draft of the rider in front of you. Schrotter managed to pass him just a few meters before the finish line. For the record, the race was won by Italian Lorenzo Baldassarri, who beat Switzerland’s Thomas Luthi.

This is Remy Gardner’s fourth season in #moto2 and this is the best result he has ever obtained in this class, an improvement on the fifth place he achieved last season in the Comunitat Valenciana GP. #remygardner was born in Sydney, Australia in 1998. Having just turned 21, Remy is riding his Kalex with the distinctive white-green colour scheme of the Onexox Tkkr SAG Team, the Catalonian squadron that has started a brilliant project. After this impressive performance he has become a candidate to be one of the surprise contenders in the 2019 #moto2 season.

As of this year, #remygardner has become a part of the #sidi team for the first time in his career. #sidi has always enjoyed a good challenge and we like to invest in young athletes who show determination and talent. Sidi Mag-1 boots are right there on the track with Gardner. These boots are light and highly performing, while maintaining a remarkable level of comfort and guaranteeing safety to the foot of the rider. In 2019 this boot has continued to stand out as one of the leading models in Sidi’s collection for track and speed. The race in Qatar brought instant excitement to the new Sidi & Gardner duo, but of course, we are just getting started. The World Series is a long haul. The results on the track, race after race, will tell the true story. Now we are looking forward to building on this success in the second round of the season, which will be held in Argentina at the end of March.

Keep in mind that Gardner is a significant surname in the world of motorcycling. In fact, in the 1987 season, his father Wayne won the World title in the 500 class, which has become today’s MotoGP. He also came in second place twice, in 1986 and 1988. The Gardners have speed in their blood; in fact, after Wayne retired from motorcycle #racing, he moved on to the word of four wheels with excellent results, participating in Gran Turismo Championships, as well as other #racing categories in Japan.
