Nissan e.dams to complete first Formula E season in New York

NEW YORK – Nissan e.dams aims to extend a run of three straight podium finishes as the team heads into the final weekend of its debut season in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship.

The all-electric street racing series will complete its fifth season with rounds 12 and 13, taking place July 13-14 at the Brooklyn street circuit in New York.

Nissan, the first Japanese manufacturer to participate in Formula E, is heading into the final rounds with five pole positions and four podium finishes. Nissan e.dams’ string of podiums in the past three races has elevated the team to fourth place in the championship.

Nissan is using Formula E to demonstrate the power and performance of its electric vehicles – a key component of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility vision – and to operate as a test bed for future electric vehicle technologies for consumers.

"Our debut season in Formula E has been a tremendous learning experience," said Michael Carcamo, Nissan's global motorsports director. "We've been able to bring a lot of Nissan's electric road car experience to the race track, and the series has been a high-speed laboratory for us. The lessons we've learned, particularly in energy management, will help us further improve our road cars.”

The weekend features two separate races, with both qualifying and Super Pole sessions set for Saturday and Sunday's rounds.

"We've been thrilled to score five pole positions and four podiums,” said Jean-Paul Driot, Nissan e.dams' team principal. “We'd love to go one better and climb that top step of the podium in New York.”

In conjunction with the New York E-Prix, Nissan will also present CONVERGE, a provocative conversation on the future of technology, July 12 at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn. Industry leaders will gather to discuss how tomorrow's adventures will be amplified and electrified through innovative technology and forward-thinking design.

Formula E attendees are welcome to visit Pioneer Works during the race weekend to experience Nissan Intelligent Mobility and the Nissan LEAF electric vehicle firsthand.
