  • The legendary #gptipo159 "Alfetta" will be treading the catwalk of the Larusmiani Boutique from September 4 to 15. Alfa Romeo has lined up activities for the Italian Grand Prix sure to excite fans and that will turn this corner of Europe into the focus point of worldwide #automotive passion.
Activities kick off tomorrow evening, September 4, at the exclusive Larusmiani Boutique, the oldest clothing and tailoring brand in Via Monte Napoleone, founded in 1922, with an evocative installation featuring J.M. Fangio's 1951 world championship winning Romeo #gptipo159 "Alfetta". The excitement of the races of yesterday will be recalled in the store with vintage photographs and a selection of merchandising on the subject.

The four-leaf clover and the seagull, two symbols of Italian-made excellence

The project that brings together Larusmiani and Alfa Romeo, both symbols of Italian beauty in the world, shares a core of common values that created products capable of gaining a foothold in collective imaginary. Both brands capitalised on the ability to combine style, quality, elegance and craftsmanship. Not unlike the seagull ("Larus" in Latin) that since 1936 has identified Larusmiani garments, the legendary four-leaf clover emblem has been used since 1923 to distinguish the fastest performing Alfa Romeo cars, including the 1951 #gptipo159 "Alfetta" and the current "Alfa Romeo Racing" C38 single-seater that Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi will be driving at the "temple of speed" at #monza. The vintage car was the one driven by the Finnish champion in the Drivers Parade at Silverstone ahead of the British Grand Prix last July. Alfa Romeo has written some of the most glorious pages of motorsports and Italian style, expressed in the exclusive design of the interior, for instance, comparable to a suit tailored with craftsmanship and premium materials. This is why a sporty and elegant icon, such as the #gptipo159 "Alfetta" perfectly complements the ambiance of the Larusmiani Boutique.

GP Tipo 159 "Alfetta" 1951

The history of the #gptipo159 "Alfetta", that belongs to the FCA #heritage collection and is usually on display at the Alfa Romeo Museum "La Macchina del Tempo" in Arese, is an interesting one.Alfa Romeo decided to radically overhaul of the previous version of the car to race the 1951 season. It was given the new name of #gptipo159. The engine was upped to deliver 425 hp at 9300 rpm, with peaks of 450 hp and top speeds in excess of 300 km/h. Transmission and brakes were also improved. Alfa Romeo went on to win the world championship at the end of an exciting year.

Alfa Romeo activities ahead of the #monza GP

The appointment at the exclusive Larusmiani Boutique opens the calendar of thrills that Alfa Romeo has in store for the Italian GP. The Alfa Romeo Motorhome will be parked from September 6 to 8 in Piazzale Cadorna in Milan. Esports fans are invited to try their hand at the Formula 1 simulator and watch the performance of Daniel Bereznay, the latest addition to the Alfa Romeo #racing #f1 Esports team.
The spectacular Alfa Romeo #racing Team C38 showcar will also be on display.

The museum, known as "La Macchina del Tempo" (the time machine), is warming up to welcome fans for an activity-packed weekend. Visitors to the museum will experience the excitement of the test sessions, qualifiers and race on the jumbo screen in the Giulia room. Alfa Romeo owner will be invited to join the exhilarating activities with their prized cars of any model or vintage activities, such as the Red Parade on the indoor track scheduled for Saturday. On Sunday, the fans will be staging a FlashAutoMob with their own Alfa Romeos to send a message to the Alfa Romeo #racing drivers about to compete. The highlight on Sunday will be the live broadcast of the Italian GP to be experienced sitting next to the cars that embody the incredible emotions of the brand. The race will be followed by an in-depth look at the history of Alfa Romeo in Formula 1 with Bruno Giacomelli, a top-series driver from the end of the 1970s. The day will end with Sky Sport #f1 "Race Anatomy" broadcast live from Arese in front of an audience of "Alfisti".
