MV Agusta Reparto Corse – De Rosa fifth in Superpole at Portimao

The second day of practice and Superpole making up round nine of the #supersport600 world championship played out today at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in #portimao, Portugal. Yesterday, the two MV Agusta Reparto Corse riders #raffaelederosa and Federico Fuligni completed the first two free practice sessions. With a time of 1’46”142, De Rosa concluded in seventh place while with a best of 1’48”075 Fuligni obtained twentieth place. This morning, the final free session took place, the Italian riders using it to refine the set-up of their F3 675 bikes ahead of the subsequent Superpole. De Rosa (1’45”354) improved on his lap time to close in fourth place, while Fuligni (1’47”858), despite lowering his time, finished in twenty-first place. In the combined standings after the three sessions, Raffaele lay fourth and Federico twenty-third.
The Superpole took place later in the morning. De Rosa crashed a few minutes into the session but was able to get back on the bike and return to his garage where his technical staff repaired the bike, allowing him to return to the track. De Rosa did well to make the most of the few minutes available to him and with a 1’45”156 he scored fifth position. Fuligni (1’47”097) improved on his time by eight tenths, but only closed twenty-second.
Tomorrow will see De Rosa line up on the second row of the grid and Fuligni from the eighth for the 18-lap race.

Raffaele De Rosa: “In yesterday’s free practice, we had a small problem that prevented us from working as we’d have liked. The temperature difference here between morning and afternoon is significant and we need to adapt quickly. This morning, we found some good solutions and I had good feeling with the bike. In Superpole I maybe entered too fast and crashed. Luckily, my technicians did a great job and allowed me to return to the track and make the most of the remainder of the session. In the end, I’m quite pleased with fifth place, seeing how it went. For tomorrow’s race, we’ll make some small changes to the bike, also considering the air temperature. A big thanks to the team for their amazing work today”.

Federico Fuligni: “We’re really struggling at this track. The main problem is that I can’t maintain good speed through the turns. I’m finding it hard to turn the bike. During the August test we’d found some solutions that improved things but here we’ve had to go back to the previous set-up. For tomorrow, I expect a difficult race, starting from so far back, but I hope to be able to solve the problems, make a good recovery and score points for the standings. I want to thank my team as they’re working really hard for me”.
