Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth: Italy’s Gabriele Minì takes the lead in the rankings at the Red Bull Ring

  • Following victory in Race3, Minì now leads the overall standings for this compelling championship.
  • The Paraguayan Joshua Dürksen took first place in Race1 and the American Jak Crawford won Race2, at the finish line of a hard-fought heat.

The #redbullring circuit in Austria was the scene of the third round of the #italianf4championship powered by #abarth. #gabrielemini was the star, driving his Prema Powerteam single-seater, powered by #abarth, with a first, second and third place in the weekend’s three heats that gave him the lead in the championship rankings, with a consistent advantage over the driver in second place, his compatriot Francesco Pizzi.

The three spectacular heats were run on a circuit made for Formula 1, where the single-seater registered an average speed of over 170km/h.

In Race1, Paraguay’s Joshua Dürksen (Müecke Motorsport) led the race after starting from pole position, followed by Minì and the Briton Jonny Edgar, who had to battle for third place with the American Jack Crawford.

The second heat saw Minì lead from pole position, which he maintained in the early laps. He was then challenged by the American Jak Crawford (Van Amersfoort Racing) and the Brits Oliver Bearman and Jonny Edgar, both of whom overtook him. By the end, Minì had managed to overcome Edgar, taking third place.

Race3 was a monologue by Minì, who took advantage of his pole position and retained his lead through to the end, seeing off challenges by Crawford and later by Dürksen, who finished second.

This was the third victory this season for the young Italian driver, after Misano Adriatico and Nürburgring, in the second race of the ADAC F4 Championship powered by #abarth.

The next race in the German championship will be the next fixture for the F4 single-seaters powered by #abarth, next weekend on the Nürburgring. The next leg of the Italian series will be held on the Mugello Circuit from October 2nd to 4th.

Standings for the #italianf4championship powered by #abarth: 1. #gabrielemini (ITA) 141; 2. Francesco Pizzi (ITA) 105; 3. Jonny Edgar (GBR) 97; 4. Jak Crawford (USA) 85; 5. Filip Ugran (ROU) 78.
