Stunning second position for Odendaal in Race 1 at Assen, Sebestyen improves and moves closer to the top ten

Great Saturday for the Evan Bros. #worldssp Yamaha Team, who in Assen were able to celebrate both the stunning second position of #stevenodendaal, able to conquer his fifth podium finish in seven races, and the positive performance of #petersebestyen, who was close to the top ten in his first race of the season.

Saturday (completely dry) at Assen opened with Superpole. Odendaal confirmed his great potential, fighting for pole position right from the start and taking an excellent second place thanks to a time of 1'37"527. Sebestyen's session was more complex: after setting a good time on the first available lap, he crashed without consequences at turn 10, which forced him to settle for 14th place.

At 15.15 the lights went out for Race 1, with Odendaal able to conquer the first position from the first corner thanks to an excellent start. Throughout the race the South African rider managed to make a difference on the rest of the group, together with Aegerter and Oettl, remaining in the fight for success until the last laps. At the end Steven wisely kept the second position, conquering another important podium: with today's result Odendaal remains second in the overall standings, 22 points behind the top.

Starting from 13th position due to Soomer's absence, Sebestyen proved to be lucid and fast. The Hungarian rider hovered around his starting position during the first half of the race, but then climbed up the classification slightly, finishing under the chequered flag in 11th position.

Tomorrow it will be race time again with Race 2 scheduled for 12.30, preceded at 09.25 by the warm up. The second and last race of the weekend will be visible live on Sky Sport MotoGP, channel 208 of Sky.
