Kawasaki Puccetti Racing – Oettl second in race 2 at Assen! Oncu's result fails to reflect his performance

The fourth round of the Supersport World Championship has concluded with today's second and final race at the Assen TT Circuit.
Yesterday saw the two #kawasakipuccettiracing riders #philippoettl and Can Oncu complete the Superpole, finishing in third and twelfth place respectively, while in race 1 the German crossed the line third to score his fourth podium of the season, while his team-mate concluded with a solid seventh place.
Today the pair returned to the Dutch track for race 2, the eighth of the season. Like yesterday, Oettl started from the front row and Oncu from the fourth for the 18-lap race.
Oettl made an excellent start that saw him move into the lead, a position he held until lap five, when he dropped to second. The leading pair built up a good lead over the chasing group, of which Oncu was part, having got away very well from twelfth on the grid. The German rider held second all the way to the flag, despite a drop in tyre performance in the latter stages. The Turk meanwhile battled for third until a few corners from the end, when a rider passing him forced him to run wide and lose positions. Can crossed the line seventh, a result that doesn't reflect the #kawasakipuccettiracing rider's performance, Oncu having proved he can fight for the podium.
The next round of the Supersport World Championship will run at Most in the Czech Republic over the weekend of 6-8 August.

Race 8: 1) Aegerter (Yamaha) – 2) Oettl (Kawasaki) – 3) Krummenacher (Yamaha) – 4) Cluzel (Yamaha) – 5) Bernardi (Yamaha) – 6) Gonzales (Yamaha) – 7) Oncu (Kawasaki)

"The race was really good and I enjoyed it a lot. We made a great step again and I want to say thanks to everybody who worked a lot for it. This team is incredible and the bike is really nice. We have all worked together to get better. Everybody gives a good motivation to me and that is why I am really happy. I am looking forward to making a good result in the Czech Republic and hopefully we will take a podium."

"It was a really good weekend for the team. We had some problems towards the end of the race because I chose the softer tyre again. Like yesterday I wanted to stay with Aegerter as long as possible and create a gap. It was an intense race. Also the tyre moved on the rim a little bit and it had a lot of vibration the last few laps. I lost a lot of time but it was a similar race to yesterday. I think at the next round in Most we can work in practice to get better grip towards the end of the race and the next step would be to stay with Aegerter the whole race".
