Debise confirms top five on Sunday in Barcelona

It was a sweet end to the Catalan weekend for the Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team, who together with Valentin Debise took fifth place in Race 2, confirming their place in the top five also today.
After deciding to stay in the box during Warm Up, due to the mixed conditions of the asphalt after the morning rain, Debise took to the track for Race 2, which was however interrupted by a red flag on lap 6, due to an accident.
The race then restarted over a distance of six laps, with Debise able to stay in contact with the front group until the chequered flag, crossing the line 5th, just seven tenths behind the winner.
By virtue of the weekend's results Debise leaves Barcelona in 7th position in the overall standings, on 33 points. The Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team will be back on track from 19th to 21st April at the Assen circuit, for the third round of the 2024 season.
Valentin Debise
"We made some changes ahead of Race 2, with the aim of being kinder to the tyres ahead of the final part of the race. The plan was working but then came the red flag, which changed the game. In the six-lap race I struggled to be fast straight away, although I improved my times on the last few laps: it's a positive fifth position, which gives us motivation for the future".
Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal)
"I am satisfied with the race, although we hoped to improve on the 5th place in Race 1. In a six-lap race it is difficult to make plans, but the speed expressed throughout the weekend makes me very confident. I am happy with both the team's and Valentin's work: fighting with the best is important, and we still have room for improvement".
