The GP Ice Race in Zell am See (19th and 20th January 2019) will showcase a wide array from historic to modern race and rally cars on ice. A spectacular Red Bull #nascar race car delivering more than 650 horsepower to the rear axle will slide on studded tires around the icy track in Zell am See as well as the famous single seater “Fetzenflieger” and an historic Austro Daimler ADR 6 driven by Hans-Joachim Stuck. The KTM X-Bow challenge will not only offer spectacular motorsport, fans can also win passenger rides. Skijoring competition and motorsport action in four race categories, among them open wheel buggies, race and rally cars with separate two- and four-wheel drive classification plus modern R5 cars will compete in Zell am See.

300 hp, rear wheel drive and a dry weight of only 790 kilograms – the KTM X-Bow, driven by Hans-Joachim Stuck’s son Ferdinand and Austrian rally aces Hermann Neubauer and Kris Rosenberger, will offer a real spectacle. “During our #Event, every spectator will have the chance to get close to the action and the stars,” promises Ferdinand Porsche from Zell am See, together with Nuremberg born Vinzenz Greger initiator of the #Event and co-founder of Greger Porsche Classic Cars. Some fans can even get closer to the action as there will be the chance to win passenger rides onboard the KTM X-Bow.

A similar concept like the KTM X-Bow, a light weight rear-wheel driven pure sports roadster, was born in 1952, when Otto Mathé created the so-called MA-01 “Fetzenflieger”. Weighing in at only 490 kilograms, the tiny race car is powered by a 1.5 litre Porsche engine offering 130 hp. Mathé’s left arm was paralyzed since an accident in 1934. This handicap could not stop him from winning all of the 20 races he entered during the 1952 season. Oliver Schmidt, today owner of the “Fetzenflieger” and co-founder of the “Auto Museum Prototyp” in Hamburg, will power the iconic single seater on studded tires around the ice track at Zell am See.

GP Ice Race Ambassador Hans-Joachim “Strietzel” Stuck will have a time travel into the motorsport history of his own family. He will present an Auto Union Typ C Grand-Prix race car on a static display. With a similar car his father Hans was successful during the 1930’s. Not far from Zell am See he won the famous Grossglockner hill climb in 1938. Hans-Joachim Stuck will also drive his late father’s private Austro Daimler ADR 6 Sport Torpedo from 1929 on the ice track, giving the 120 horsepower car one of his very rare outings.

A rear-wheel driven Red Bull #nascar race car, originally known from the tarmac tracks of the famous US American race series and today serving as a demo race car on the Red Bull Ring in Austria, also offers passenger rides for motorsport enthusiasts. At GP Ice Race, the more than 650 hp of the 6.5 litre V8 engine definitely will give the studded tires a hard time.
