Acura NSX GT3 Evo Teams Earn Pro/Am Wins In Virginia

Comunicato Stampa disponibile solo in lingua originale.

Acura powered a pair of #nsxgt3 Evo’s to Victory Lane at Virginia International Raceway this weekend, as Racer’s Edge Motorsports and RealTime #racing each earned Pro/Am class wins in Rounds 3 and 4 of the 2019 #blancpaingt World Challenge America.

The Racer’s Edge #acura NSX of #kylemarcelli and #martinbarkey followed up on a successful opening weekend with a strong performance in Saturday’s opening #event, storming to their second win of the year in the hotly-contest ProAm class.

In Sunday’s nightcap, #danecameron and #bretcurtis rolled to their first win of the 2019 season, taking the RealTime #racing #nsxgt3 Evo to the checkers.

The Racer’s Edge squad recovered from early-race contact in Saturday’s race and fought through the Pro/Am field. Once in the lead, closing driver Marcelli held off the Gradient #racing #acura of #ryaneversley on a late restart to earn the win.

Eversley and Till Bectholsheimer held on for second on Saturday, and followed that with a fourth-place run on Sunday.

Sunday showed the strength of the RealTime squad, led by SCCA-? Hall-of-Famer Peter Cunningham. The team was making its 2019 debut in the World Challenge series, and despite having nearly no track time with car before the weekend, RealTime stormed to a dominating win on Sunday.

Cameron made a strong move off the starting line to vault his #acura #nsxgt3 Evo into third place overall and first in the Pro/Am class, and spent the duration of his stint building his lead. #bretcurtis took over and protected the lead well, finishing with a 20-second gap over second place.

Quotes
Kyle Marcelli (driver, #80 Racers Edge Motorsports #acura #nsxgt3 Evo) Pro/Am class winner on Saturday: "Things happen in GT3 #racing and when they do, you have to be able to recover and manage your race. It was just a matter of regrouping and getting back in the groove. Martin [Barkey, co-driver] did a great job, we had a great run at the end and got the win. It was a fantastic day."

Dane Cameron (driver, #43 RealTime #racing #acura #nsxgt3 Evo) Sunday race Pro/Am class winner: "I had a good start. I knew it was going to be feisty out there, so I looked for my lane and was able to make a couple of passes. After that, I knew tire wear was going to be an issue, especially now that it has warmed up a little bit, so I wanted conserve them a little and give the car to Bret [Curtis, co-driver] in a comfortable spot. He took it and did a great job. #acura gave us a great car."
