Comunicato Stampa disponibile solo in lingua originale.

Indianapolis, IN (Sept. 19, 2019) – Bryan Herta Autosport (BHA) with Curb Agajanian will enter a single Hyundai #velosterturbo R-Spec TCA car in the final event of the 2019 SRO TC America Championship at #lasvegas Motor Speedway on October 19th and 20th.  American #tylergonzalez has been chosen to drive the first- ever Veloster TCA machine in the official race debut for the car.

The car was built by Bryan Herta Autosport around the Hyundai #velosterturbo R-Spec road car.  The car will be homologated for TCA competition in the SRO TC America Series. It will also be eligible to compete in other series including SCCA and NASA.

A new BHA/Hyundai Customer Support Team will handle running the car for its debut. Then the debut #velosterturbo R-Spec TCA car will be sold to a customer and driver for next season. Additional Veloster TCA cars will be available for sale from BHA starting today.

The BHA/Hyundai Customer Support Team will offer the same trackside engineering support, setup and tuning advice and parts already available to North American TCR teams from their headquarters in Brownsburg, IN.

“TCA provides an ideal, low cost, track ready option for #racing enthusiasts and teams with a clear pathway up the motorsports ladder to the TCR division,” said BHA president, Bryan Herta.  “We selected the #velosterturbo R-Spec as the perfect platform around which to build a race ready TCA car.  We already know the Veloster has all the attributes you look for in a race car, great power and torque, low center of gravity, small frontal area and a perfect wheelbase-to-wheel track ratio.  All the hard work was already done for us.”

In just two seasons of competition, Hyundai has tallied 11 TCR victories and the 2018 team and manufacturer championship in Pirelli World Challenge in partnership with Bryan Herta Autosport.  With just one race to go in 2019, BHA and Hyundai lead the drivers’ championship in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.

“With the success of the Veloster N TCR the past two years, it was only natural to expand our motorsports portfolio and put more Velosters on the track,” said Paul Imhoff, director, Marketing Communications, Hyundai Motor America. “Our objective is to reach #racing enthusiasts across the spectrum, from high performance to grassroots and we hope to take the checkered flag in #lasvegas.”

In addition to their commitment to performance and development with the Hyundai #velosterturbo R-Spec, Hyundai Motorsports North America offers a compelling contingency program for customer teams.  Teams competing next season with the #velosterturbo R-Spec TCA car in the TC America Series will be eligible for substantial contingency awards. Contingency program details will be announced soon.

Tyler Gonzalez, 15, of St. Cloud, Florida will transition to TCA from the Battery Tender Global MX-5 Cup Presented by BF Goodrich, where this season, he’s earned three top five finishes, including a podium at Road America.

“I am confident that I can work well with the team to develop the car to be one of the best in competition in both the United States and Canada,” said Gonzalez. “To have this opportunity is something that I have been working at for quite some time. I can’t thank Bryan and his team enough for believing in me and I will make them proud in #lasvegas and hopefully onwards into the 2020 season.”

A 10 time karting champion, Gonzalez is a recipient of the Emerson Fittipaldi Driver of the Year Award and was honored by the mayor of his hometown, St. Cloud, FL when they officially declared October 31st ‘Tyler Gonzalez Day’.
