Deroue, Buis and Meuffels Join Forces In 2020

Comunicato Stampa disponibile solo in lingua originale.

Scott Deroue, Jeffrey Buis and Koen Meuffels will join forces in the ever-competitive MTM Racing Team Kawasaki squad for a full season of WorldSSP300 competition next year.

The perennially competitive Deroue, from Nijkerverveen in the Netherlands, is a long time fixture inside the overall MTM team structure and has won four WorldSSP races in his career so far. This total makes him the second-highest scorer in terms of race victories across the three-year history of this newest full FIM World Championship class.

Scott (23) has scored 12 podiums in that same three-season period, making him the rider with most podium visits. He is the joint second highest points scorer in 2019, with one round to go, after finishing third in both 2017 and 2018.

Already competing for the MTM Kawasaki team in 2019, the 17-year-old Dutchman Buis has impressed in his debut full season, enough to be retained for an all out assault on the championship in 2020.

So far in 2019 Buis, who hails from Meppel, has scored a personal best race finish of eighth, and a best qualifying performance of fifth. In a vast field of competing riders at each round he has qualified for every race this year and scored points in five of his eight starts.

Koen Meuffels is the latest rider to have confirmed his presence in the MTM set-up, with the team delighted to welcome back a rider who has already competed for the team in the most recent two races of the 2019 season.

Also a Dutch rider, from Someren, the 25-year-old is a proven race winner in the WorldSSP class. He took his victory at Motorland Aragon in the first race of the 2018 season.

The final race of the current season will take place on Saturday 26th of October, at the Losail circuit in Qatar.

Scott Deroue, stated: “First of all really happy to be signed for the fourth time with MTM! A professional team, with really good people and help from Kawasaki. There is only one goal for next year that’s winning the title. I want to thank all the people around me for this great opportunity.”

Ludo van der Veken, MTM Team Manager, stated: “As a Team Manager I am very happy to work with Kawasaki so that I can start again with a professional Team in 2020 with winning riders. Thanks to Kawasaki and sponsors for the confidence in our team. It’s actually our overall intention for 2020 to enter a four rider team so watch for a final rider announcement as soon as we have concluded our negotiations. Let’s go for the World Championship title!”

Steve Guttridge, Kawasaki Europe Racing Manager, stated: “Ludo's team has been a real force in the World Championship over the past few seasons with Kawasaki support. Combined with Scott's strength, focus and dogged determination, they have consistently delivered great results on the previous Ninja 300 and now with the current Ninja 400. On paper it's Scott's turn to take one step further to the top of the podium in 2020. It's never that simple or easy though in the frantic WorldSSP300 category but we know he will fight for the title. The team have developed a great race bike and with the addition of Jeffrey and Koen’s talents and desire to succeed we are looking forward to another successful season of racing as partners.”
