Andrea Locatelli pigliatutto, pole position e vittoria in Gara 1 nel sabato di Jerez

Prosegue a gonfie vele il weekend di #jerez de la Frontera per il BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team, che dopo aver completato il proprio programma per la giornata odierna può già vantare un trofeo della vittoria in bacheca. Il format 2020 del mondiale Supersport infatti prevede una Gara 1 al sabato ed una Gara 2 la domenica, ed #andrealocatelli non si è lasciato sfuggire l’occasione per conquistare la sua seconda vittoria in due gare disputate. 

Ad aprire la giornata è stata la terza ed ultima sessione di prove libere, che Locatelli ed il team campione del mondo in carica hanno utilizzato per lavorare sull’assetto della #moto in previsione della gara, chiudendo in terza posizione a pochi decimi dalla vetta. Alle 11.40 è scattata come da programma la Superpole, valida per decretare la griglia di partenza di entrambe le gare del weekend, che ha incoronato #andrealocatelli poleman di #jerez. Il pilota bergamasco ha ritoccato per ben tre volte consecutive il miglior tempo durante la sessione, firmando un ottimo crono di 1’42”214, quasi sei decimi meglio del secondo in classifica. 

Nel primo pomeriggio andaluso (15.15) è stata la volta di Gara 1, che Locatelli ha magistralmente gestito. Dopo aver sfruttato la partenza dalla pole per mettersi sin da subito in prima piazza, Andrea ha subito l’attacco di Cluzel passando in seconda posizione, per poi riconquistare la leadership con un preciso sorpasso alla curva sei durante il quinto giro di gara. Una volta tornato in testa Locatelli ha sfoderato il suo rapido passo gara, che gli ha permesso di guadagnare sugli inseguitori e di tagliare il traguardo in solitaria. Una vittoria che fa il paio con quella ottenuta a Phillip Island, e rafforza la sua prima posizione in campionato a punteggio pieno. 

Un successo che ha giustamente accesso l’entusiasmo all’interno del team, sempre protagonista di un efficace lavoro sulla YZF-R6 di Locatelli, ma che non conclude il weekend. Domani infatti sarà la volta di Gara 2, prevista per le ore 12.30 e live su Skysport MotoGP, che verrà anticipata dalla classica sessione di warm up del mattino (09.25).

E’ stato impegnativo svolgere nello stesso giorno la Superpole ed una gara, dato che era la prima volta per noi, ma abbiamo lavorato davvero bene ed abbiamo ottenuto il risultato che volevamo. Le condizioni erano estreme, e questo rende la vittoria ancora più dolce. Ora vogliamo studiare nel modo migliore i dati emersi da questa gara, per cercare di replicare l’ottima prestazione di oggi. Voglio davvero ringraziare il team per il grande lavoro svolto anche oggi”.

Andrea Locatelli catch-all, pole position and win in Race 1 on the Saturday of Jerez

The weekend in #jerez de la Frontera continues in full swing for the BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team, which after completing its program for today can already exhibit a victory trophy on the trophy case. The 2020 format of the World Supersport Championship in fact provides a Race 1 on Saturday and a Race 2 on Sunday, and #andrealocatelli did not miss the opportunity to take his second victory in two races.

The day opened with the third and final free practice session, which Locatelli and the reigning world champion team used to work on the bike's set-up in anticipation of the race, finishing in third position just a few tenths from the top. At 11.40 a.m. the Superpole started as scheduled, valid for the starting grid of both races of the weekend, which crowned #andrealocatelli poleman of #jerez. The rider from Bergamo set the best time three times in a row during the session, setting an excellent time of 1'42"214, almost six tenths better than the second fastest. 

In the early Andalusian afternoon (15.15) it was the turn of Race 1, which Locatelli masterfully managed. After taking advantage of the start from pole to take the first place, Andrea was attacked by Cluzel to move into second, before regain the lead with a precise overtaking move at turn six on lap five. Once back in the lead Locatelli unleashed his quick race pace, which allowed him to gain on his pursuers and cross the line alone. A victory that pairs it with the one he achieved at Phillip Island, and reinforces his first position in the championship with a full score. 
A success that has rightly gained the enthusiasm within the team, always protagonist of an effective work on Locatelli's YZF-R6, but that doesn't end the weekend. Tomorrow it will be the turn of Race 2, scheduled for 12.30 and live on Skysport MotoGP, which will be brought forward by the classic morning warm up session (09.25).
