L’Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team e Steven Odendaal concludono con ottimi risultati i test di Misano
Si è conclusa oggi sul tracciato di Misano la due giorni di #test dell'Evan Bros. #WorldSSP Yamaha Team, che ha così potuto mettere a referto i primi chilometri insieme al suo nuovo portacolori per la stagione 2021 #stevenodendaal. Nell'arco delle due giornate il pilota sudafricano ha iniziato ad approfondire la conoscenza della squadra, prendendo al contempo confidenza con la Yamaha YZF-R6 preparata dalla struttura Campione del Mondo in carica.
Nella prima giornata Odendaal ha collezionato diverse uscite di breve durata, acquisendo ora dopo ora tante informazioni utili, e mettendo a referto un totale di 72 giri. 1'38"493 il miglior crono di Steven, già più veloce dell'ultima position di categoria registrata a Misano nel 2019.
La seconda giornata si è aperta con un importante annuncio. Il team Campione del Mondo ha infatti svelato la propria livrea per la stagione 2021 che, pur restando fedele ai colori che hanno accompagnato la squadra ravennate nelle ultime stagioni, in primis il giallo Bardahl, presenta alcune interessanti modifiche. Le più evidenti riguardano la parte superiore del codone, valorizzata dalla presenza della bandiera sudafricana in onore di Odendaal, e la parte inferiore della carena, dove trovano posto due strisce di colore blu e grigio opaco, che richiamano le classiche tinte Yamaha.
Una volta sceso in pista per il Day2 Odendaal ha collezionato 67 giri, alternando uscite più brevi ad altre più prolungate, e riuscendo soprattutto a migliorare il proprio miglior crono di circa mezzo secondo, arrivando a fermare il cronometro sul tempo di 1'37"945. Un crono senza dubbio positivo ed incoraggiante, nonché soltanto mezzo secondo più lento rispetto al record della pista. Il prossimo appuntamento ora per l'Evan Bros. #WorldSSP Yamaha Team è fissato per il 29 – 30 marzo, quando sul circuito di Barcellona andranno in scena i #test ufficiali Dorna in vista della nuova stagione.
Steven Odendaal: "Sono molto contento di aver iniziato la mia avventura insieme all'Evan Bros. #WorldSSP Yamaha Team. Sin da subito ho potuto constatare la professionalità di tutta la squadra, e questi due giorni di #test sono stati senza dubbio positivi. La #moto ha grande potenziale, che dobbiamo riuscire a sfruttare del tutto passo dopo passo: sia ieri che oggi ho imparato tante cose, che certamente mi aiuteranno ad essere sempre più veloce, riuscendo anche a migliorare il mio tempo sul giro".
Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal): "Tornare in pista dopo diversi mesi di inattività è stato un grande piacere, nonché di grande utilità. Sono contento dell'andamento delle due giornate: abbiamo lavorato tanto e bene, e Steven è riuscito ad essere subito veloce, nonostante abbia iniziato solo ieri a conoscere la nostra #moto. Si è dimostrato un pilota coraggioso e volenteroso, doti che senza dubbio saranno molto utili anche in futuro. Ora è tempo di prepararsi per i #test di Barcellona, dove proseguiremo il nostro percorso di crescita".

The Evan Bros. #WorldSSP Yamaha Team concluded today its two day of testing, with the first kilometres of testing with its new 2021 rider #stevenodendaal. Over the course of the two days the South African rider began to get to know the team better, while also getting to know the Yamaha YZF-R6 prepared by the reigning World Champion team.
On the first day Odendaal made a number of short runs, gaining valuable information hour by hour and clocking up a total of 72 laps. 1'38"493 was Steven's best time, already faster than the last category position recorded at Misano in 2019.
The second day opened with an important announcement. The World Champion team unveiled its livery for the 2021 season which, while remaining faithful to the colours that have accompanied the Ravenna-based team in recent seasons, primarily Bardahl yellow, features some interesting changes. The most obvious changes are to the upper part of the codon, which is enhanced by the presence of the South African flag in honour of Odendaal, and the lower part of the fairing, which features two stripes in blue and matt grey, recalling Yamaha's classic colours.
Once on track for Day2 Odendaal collected 67 laps, alternating shorter and longer runs, and managed to improve his best time by about half a second, stopping the clock at 1'37"945. This was undoubtedly a positive and encouraging time and only half a second slower than the track record. The next appointment for the Evan Bros. #WorldSSP Yamaha Team is scheduled for 29-30 March, when the Dorna tests will be held at the Barcelona circuit in preparation for the new season.
Steven Odendaal: "I am very happy to have started my adventure with the Evan Bros. #WorldSSP Yamaha Team. Right from the start I could see the professionalism of the whole team, and these two days of testing have definitely been positive. The bike has great potential, which we have to exploit step by step: both yesterday and today I learned a lot of things that will certainly help me to be faster and faster, improving also my lap time”.
Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal): "Getting back on track after several months of inactivity has been a great pleasure, as well as very useful. I'm happy with how the two days went: we worked hard and well, and Steven managed to be fast straight away, even though he only started to get to know our bike yesterday. He has shown himself to be a brave and willing rider, qualities that will undoubtedly be very useful in the future. Now it's time to get ready for the Barcelona #test, where we will continue our growth”.
