Comunicato Stampa disponibile solo in lingua originale.

Kawasaki Puccetti #racing – Fourth #worldsbk round at the historic Donington Park circuit

In 2020 the Superbike World Championship did not visit Donington Park in the UK due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but this weekend the British track will host the fourth round on the 2021 calendar. It was at this track that the very first production-derived race was held back in April 1988, the first of 55 to have run at the historic Leicestershire track since then.

The circuit was built in 1931, initially only for motorcycle #racing. After the second world war, activity resumed in 1977. Important extension work was completed in 1985 and this included the construction of a section behind the paddock (Melbourne Loop), which lengthened the track from 3149 metres to its current 4023 metres, with seven right-hand turns and five left-handers running in a clockwise direction. The track itself stands in what is a natural amphitheatre, to the benefit of the spectators. The layout really tests the riders' abilities with its fast turns and undulating sections that require hard acceleration and braking.

This fourth round at Donington Park marks the return of the Paddock Show, suspended following the 2020 Phillip Island race due to the pandemic.

This will be the first time that #lucasmahias is #racing at Donington with a superbike. The #kawasakipuccettiracing rider has competed in the UK on three occasions, in the Supersport class, reaching the podium twice. Three rounds into the 2021 championship and the Frenchman lies thirteenth in the standings with 22 points. Excluding the Superpole Race, Mahias has scored points in all the remaining races, his continual improvement auguring well for the rest of the championship.

Lucas Mahias:

"I like the Donington Park track, both for its configuration and the atmosphere in the paddock. It's an historic circuit after all, where #worldsbk began. I have good memories of the track because on the three occasions I raced with the Supersport, I scored two podiums and a fifth-place finish. I'm sure it'll be very different with the superbike, but I hope to use all the experience I've gained so far. The aim is to be a regular top-ten finisher, but if we can find the right set-up we can do even better".
