Kawasaki Puccetti Racing – Nono round WorldSBK e ottavo round WorldSS a Barcellona
Sono trascorse due settimane dal precedente round di Magny Cours in Francia e per il #kawasakipuccettiracing e tempo di spostarsi in Spagna, sul circuito di #barcellona Catalunya, per il nono round del Campionato Mondiale Superbike e per l'ottavo del mondiale Supersport.
Quello francese inizialmente non è stato un round positivo per la squadra di Manuel Puccetti, a causa della caduta di #lucasmahias avvenuta nel corso della Superpole. Il pilota francese, che ad Assen si era fratturato il polso sinistro e per questo motivo era stato operato e non aveva potuto correre il round di Most, ci teneva molto a ben figurare davanti al proprio pubblico, ma purtroppo nella caduta ha riportato un leggero trauma cranico, che ha indotto i medici a vietargli di correre gara1. La domenica Mahias ha potuto disputare regolarmente le due gare in programma, anche se non certo in perfette condizioni fisiche.
La gara della Supersport di sabato aveva visto #philippoettl e Can Oncu terminare rispettivamente al settimo ed all'ottavo posto, ma quella di domenica ha avuto un esito ben diverso, ed ha sancito la definitiva consacrazione del giovane pilota turco tra i top riders della categoria. Oncu ha infatti conquistato il suo primo podio in 600, tagliando il traguardo in terza posizione, proprio davanti al suo compagno di squadra. Un risultato che conferma la validità del lavoro del team di Manuel Puccetti, che riesce a valorizzare giovani piloti e a lanciarli a livello internazionale.
Entrambi i campionati mondiali iniziano a #barcellona un trittico di gare consecutive, che dopo quelle in Catalunya vedrà impegnati i piloti il weekend successivo a Jerez de la Frontera e quello immediatamente dopo a Portimao in Portogallo.
A #barcellona in Supersport Oncu vorrà confermarsi sul podio, cercando magari di migliorare la posizione, e lo stesso vale per il suo compagno di squadra Oettl, che punta a consolidare e migliorare la sua terza posizione nella classifica generale. In Superbike Mahias si impegnerà a fondo per trovare quella costanza di rendimento che sino ad ora gli è mancata, soprattutto a causa delle cadute e degli infortuni.
Il circuito di Catalunya si trova a Montmelò, 20 chilometri circa a nord-est di #barcellona. E' stato inaugurato nel 1992 in vista dei Giochi Olimpici ed è sempre stata la sede del Gran Premio di Spagna di F1 e del Mondiale MotoGP. La Superbike ha fatto il suo debutto sul tracciato spagnolo solo lo scorso anno. E' un tracciato che piace molto ai piloti anche grazie alle sue curve veloci. Nel 1994 sono state ampliate alcune vie di fuga, nel 2004 è stato modificato il sistema di curve La Caixa-Ban de Sabadell, sostituita da una curva molto stretta. Nel 2007 è stata inserita una nuova variante tra le ultime due curve, la Europcar e la New Holland e alla fine dello scorso anno la decima curva del tracciato è stata ampliata in uscita. La pista è lunga 4.627 metri con 14 curve, delle quali 8 a destra e 6 a sinistra.

Ninth WorldSBK round and eighth #WorldSS round at Barcelona
It's two weeks since the Magny-Cours round in France and already time for #kawasakipuccettiracing to travel to Spain, and the Barcelona Catalunya circuit, for round nine of the Superbike World Championship and round eight of the Supersport World Championship.
The French #Event proved unlucky early on, when #lucasmahias crashed out during Superpole. The French rider, who had fractured his left wrist at Assen and was forced to sit out the Most round as a result, had been keen to do well in front of his home crowd, but unfortunately a slight head injury meant that the doctors ruled him out of race 1. On Sunday, Mahias competed in the two races as planned, but was not in ideal physical shape.
Saturday's Supersport race saw #philippoettl and Can Oncu finish sEventh and eighth respectively, but Sunday brought a very different outcome, sealing the young Turk's place as one of the category's top riders. Oncu scored his first podium in the 600 class, crossing the line third, just ahead of his team-mate. A result that confirms the validity of the work being done by Manuel Puccetti's team, the squad more than capable of promoting young riders and launching them on the international stage.
Both championships now head into a triple-header with the Barcelona #Event, which will be immediately followed up with rounds at Jerez de la Frontera and then Portimão in Portugal.
In Supersport, Oncu will be aiming for the podium once more, perhaps trying to improve his position, and the same goes for his team-mate Oettl, who will be looking to improve his position in the general standings (currently third). In Superbike, Mahias will be seeking that level of consistency that he has been missing until now, mainly as a result of crashes and injuries.
The Catalunya circuit is located in Montmeló, roughly 20 kilometres north-east of Barcelona. It was inaugurated in 1992 ahead of the Olympic Games and has always been home to the Spanish F1 and MotoGP rounds. The Superbikes only came to the Spanish track for the first time last year, but it's one that riders enjoy, also thanks to its fast corners. In 1994, some of the run-off areas were extended, while 2004 brought modification to the La Caixa-Ban de Sabadell turns, replaced by a very narrow turn. In 2007, a new chicane was inserted between the final Europcar and New Holland corners, and at the end of last year, the exit of turn ten was widened. The track is 4627 metres long with fourteen turns, eight of which are right-handers and six left.
