Sochi, here we come: The 15th race weekend of the 2021 #f1 season takes the premier class of motorsport to Sochi for the Russian Grand Prix next weekend (24 - 26 September). The Sochi Autodrom has been a regular stop on the #f1 itinerary since 2014, and this year’s Grand Prix will be the eighth that it has hosted. The 5.848 km circuit on the campus of the 2014 Winter Olympics has so far been a happy hunting ground for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas #f1 Team, with a clean sweep of seven wins out of seven – four for Lewis Hamilton, two for Valtteri Bottas and one for Nico Rosberg. The lap record was set by Lewis last year when he booked pole position (1:31.304 minutes). Lewis also holds the fastest race lap record with a time of 1:35.761 minutes clocked in the 2019 Russian GP.

Mercedes-AMG Motorsport celebrates third #dtm win of the season: Lucas Auer (AUT) secured the third race win for a Mercedes-AMG GT3 this season on the #dtm weekend at Assen in the Netherlands. The Austrian, who drives for Mercedes-AMG Team WINWARD, completed a comfortable lights-to-flag victory in Sunday’s race. A clutch of other strong results enabled Mercedes-AMG to further extend its lead in the manufacturers’ standings. Maximilian Götz of Mercedes-AMG Team HRT (GER, #4) scored valuable points towards the championship by finishing fourth on Saturday and sixth on Sunday. His team-mate Vincent Abril (MON, #5) also finished in the points with a P9 in the second race. In the somewhat chaotic conditions that prevailed on Saturday, Auer’s team-mate Philip Ellis (SUI) also finished seventh in the number 57 car ahead of Auer in tenth. Mercedes-AMG Team WINWARD occupy third place in the team standings, with two race weekends remaining.

The #dtm championship titles will be decided at either the Hockenheimring (1 – 3 October) or the Norisring (8 - 10 October).

The #dtm Trophy was once again contested as part of the support programme to the senior series. William Tregurtha (GBR) in the number 85 CV Performance Group Mercedes-AMG GT4 finished fifth and third in the two races. He is currently second in the general classification and very much in contention for the title.

Podium glut in North America: Seven Top Three finishes in six races! The SRO America #event at Watkins Glen turned out to be richly rewarding for Mercedes-AMG Motorsport. The WINWARD #racing duo of Mikaël Grenier (CAN) and Russell Ward (USA) made their fourth podium appearance of the 2021 #gtworldchallengeamerica. Sharing the cockpit of the number 33 Mercedes-AMG GT3, they took the chequered flag third in the first of the two 90-minute races. Michael Cooper and Erin Vogel (both USA) in the #19 DXDT #racing finished sixth overall and third in the Pro-Am class.

In the Pirelli #gt4america, Murillo Racing’s Kenny Murillo and Christian Szymczak (both USA) driving the number 72 Mercedes-AMG GT4 were runners-up in Saturday’s first race, which was enough for them to secure a fifth Silver Cup win of the season. Colin Mullan and Michai Stephens (both USA) of Conquest #racing West played a supporting role in delivering a one-two in class and added another podium finish as overall runners-up in Sunday’s race. Podium success number six was contributed by Capstone Motorsports’ Jon Allen and Kris Wilson (both USA) as runners-up in the Am class in the second race.

The seventh podium success came in Race 2 of the GT America, with Chris Gumprecht (USA) finishing third in the GT4 class for RENNtech Motorsports.

Titles galore in the GTC Race: In the season finale of the GTC Race at the Hockenheimring, Mercedes-AMG Motorsport not only won all three rounds but also wrapped up multiple titles. The number 9 Mercedes-AMG GT3 fielded by Team Zakspeed Mobil Krankenkasse #racing won the first two races of the weekend. In the Goodyear 60 race, Jules Gounon (FRA) partnered by Nicolas Schöll (AUT) celebrated a start-finish victory. Schöll then proceeded to win the first of the sprint races driving solo.

Marvin Kirchhöfer (GER) in the #630 Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Neumann #racing Team won race three and clinched the Pro title in the GT Cup Sprint, which was to be the first of no fewer than eight championships for Mercedes-AMG Motorsport. The Am class title went to his team-mate Heiko Neumann (GER). Tim Heinemann (GER) delivered two further titles: the driver of the #31 Space Drive #racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 chalked up the Goodyear 60 GT3 Championship and the GT3 Trophy Championship in the GT Cup Sprint class.

Denis Bulatov (RUS) and Leon Koslowski (GER) in the number 4 Mercedes-AMG GT4 of EastSide Motorsport took the class victory in the two sprint races at the Hockenheimring and had the immense satisfaction of lifting four championship trophies. In addition to the duo taking the GT4 Team Championship in the GT Cup Sprint and the GT4 Drivers’ Championship in the Goodyear 60, the Russian also collected the GT4 Trophy and the GT4 Junior Trophy in the GT Cup Sprint.

Further successes for the Mercedes-AMG GT3 and the Mercedes-AMG GT4: In the three races of the GT Cup Championship at Donington in the English East Midlands, the ABBA #racing team finished in the Top Three twice. Richard and Sam Neary (both GBR) in the #88 Mercedes-AMG GT3 were third in the first race and runners-up in the second.

Customer #racing teams fielding the Mercedes-AMG GT4 made it onto the podium at various endurance events in Asia. Endless Sports in the shape of Ryo Ogawa, Togo Suganami, Yudai Uchida and Hideki Yamauchi (all JPN) finished the fifth round of the Japanese Super Taikyu in Suzuka third in the ST-Z class after five hours of #racing.

In the second round of the China Endurance Championship at the Ningbo International Circuit, Li Dong Sheng (CHN), Wie Lu (CAN) and Yang Ruo Yu (CHN) took the Climax #racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 #777 to fifth overall. This secured them the GT4 class win in the 2½ hour race ahead of Phantom Pro Racing’s #21 and the Climax #racing #555 sister car.
