Gara 1 positiva per l'Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team: Odendaal ai piedi del podio, miglior risultato stagionale per Sebestyen

Prima giornata di gara per l'Evan Bros. #worldssp Yamaha Team a San Juan, con #stevenodendaal e Peter Sebsetyen autori di due positive prove. Nonostante qualche difficoltà Steven ha colto una importante quarta posizione, mentre Peter ha conquistato il suo miglior risultato stagionale grazie alla 7° posizione. 

Prima della corsa è ovviamente andata in scena la Superpole, utile per decidere la griglia di partenza per le due gare in programma nel weekend. Grazie anche ad un ottimo gioco di squadra Odendaal è riuscito ad ottenere la seconda posizione, tornando in prima fila quattro round dopo l'ultima volta. Molto rapido anche Sebestyen, 8° a pochi decimi dalle primissime posizioni. 

Alle 13.30 locali si sono spenti i semafori di Gara 1. Terzo al termine del primo giro Steven ha faticato a trovare il ritmo nelle prime fasi, scendendo sino in sesta posizione, salvo poi migliorare la propria prestazione recuperando terreno. Raggiunto nell'ultima parte di gara Aegerter, Steven ha vinto il duello e conquistato la quarta posizione finale, recuperando due punti in campionato allo stesso leader di campionato Aegerter e riducendo dunque a 52 i punti di ritardo in campionato. 

Sebestyen si è reso protagonista di una buona partenza, che unita ad una buona velocità gli hanno permesso di risalire nei primi giri sino alla quinta piazza. Nella parte centrale della gara qualche piccola problematica ed un errore hanno costretto il pilota ungherese a retrocedere, ma non gli hanno impedito di conquistare una ottima settima posizione, che come detto rappresenta il suo miglior risultato stagionale. 
Conclusa la giornata di sabato, ora tutto è pronto per il day 3 di San Juan. Domani infatti andranno in scena il warm up (ore 15.25 italiane) e Gara 2, che scatterà come la gara odierna alle 18.30 italiane. La corsa sarà visibile live (in Italia) su Sky Sport MotoGP, canale 208 di Sky.

Steven Odendaal: "La giornata è iniziata bene con la Superpole, dove ho conquistato una seconda posizione inaspettata, ma il fatto di non essere riusciti ieri a fare delle uscite di lunga durata oggi ci ha penalizzato in gara. Nelle prime fasi ho faticato, ma poi ho trovato un buon ritmo ed ho fatto una buona gara. Ora dobbiamo capire come migliorare nei primi giri, per essere domani più forti". 
Peter Sebestyen: "Sono contento per la settima posizione, ma sento che potevo fare di più. In Superpole ho capito di avere un buon passo per la gara, durante la quale però le condizioni sono mutate. All'inizio mi sono sentito forte, seguendo facilmente Steven e salendo in quinta posizione, ma poi ho avuto qualche problema: due volte mi è entrata due volte la folle, poi ho commesso un errore, così ho perso tempo e non è stato possibile fare meglio. La settima posizione non è male, ma domani voglio fare meglio".

Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal): "Sono abbastanza soddisfatto delle gare di Steven e Peter. Odendaal ha commesso alcuni errori all'inizio, il che gli ha impedito di lottare per il podio, mentre sono dispiaciuto per i problemi avuti da Peter, che senza le due folli e l'errore avrebbe potuto ambire ad una posizione migliore. Domani dobbiamo ambire al podio".

First race day for the Evan Bros. #worldssp Yamaha Team in San Juan, with #stevenodendaal and Peter Sebsetyen authors of two positive races. Despite some difficulties Steven took an important 4th position, while Peter got his best result of the season thanks to the 7th position. 

Before the race there was of course the Superpole, useful to decide the starting grid for the two races scheduled for the weekend. Thanks also to a great teamwork Odendaal managed to get the second position, returning to the front row four rounds after the last time. 
Sebestyen was also very quick, 8th just a few tenths from the very first positions.

At 13.30 local time the lights went off for Race 1. Third at the end of the first lap Steven struggled to find his rhythm in the early stages, dropping to sixth position, but then improved his performance recovering ground. Reached Aegerter in the last part of the race, Steven won the duel and conquered the fourth final position, recovering two points in the championship to the leader Aegerter and reducing the delay in the championship to 52 points. 

Sebestyen made a good start, which combined with a good speed allowed him to climb in the early laps up to fifth place. In the central part of the race some small problems and a mistake forced the Hungarian rider to move back, but did not prevent him from conquering an excellent seventh position, which as mentioned is his best result of the season. 

Now that Saturday is over, everything is ready for day 3 in San Juan. Tomorrow, in fact, the warm up (10.25 local time) and Race 2, that will start as today's race at 13.30 local time, will be staged. The race will be visible live (in Italy) on Sky Sport MotoGP, channel 208 of Sky.

Steven Odendaal: "The day started off well with the Superpole, where I took an unexpected second position, but the fact that we weren't able to make any long runs yesterday today hurt us in the race. In the early stages I struggled, but then I found a good rhythm and I did a good race. Now we have to figure out how to improve in the early laps, to be stronger tomorrow." 
Peter Sebestyen: "I'm happy for the seventh position, but I feel that I could have done more. In Superpole I realized I had a good pace for the race, but during the race the conditions changed. At the beginning I felt strong, easily following Steven and moving up to fifth position, but then I had some problems: twice I entered neutral, then I made a mistake, so I lost time and it was not possible to do better. The seventh position is not bad, but tomorrow I want to do better". 
Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal): "I am quite satisfied with Steven and Peter's races. Odendaal made some mistakes at the beginning, which prevented him from fighting for the podium, while I'm sorry for the problems had by Peter, who without the two neutrals and the mistake could have aspired to a better position. Tomorrow we must aspire to the podium".
