Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland, Round 8, Zandvoort (Netherlands): Home win for ten Voorde, Heinrich lead

Stuttgart. Larry ten Voorde has won his home race at the Circuit Zandvoort in the Netherlands. Driving for the GP Elite team, he crossed the finish line first at round eight of the #porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland to the delight of home crowds in the grandstands. “To win in front of your fans feels very special. I got off the line really well. Afterwards, I had to get through two safety car phases but in the final minutes I managed to bring home a safe victory,” says ten Voorde. At the race run as support to the ADAC GT Masters, the 25-year-old shared the podium with Bastian Buus (Allied-Racing) from Denmark and Porsche-Junior Laurin Heinrich (Germany/SSR Huber Racing) in second and third respectively.

In temperatures of 21 degrees Celsius and sunshine, the 31-strong field took off with polesitter ten Voorde at the front. Right from the outset, a trio of ten Voorde, Buus and Heinrich fought for the top spot. Two safety cars added extra excitement, resulting in the field of 375 kW (510 PS) #porsche 911 GT3 Cup bunching together. After several overtaking attempts, Buus reacted with lightning speed after the second restart, catapulted out of ten Voorde’s slipstream and pulled level with the frontrunner. Ten Voorde, however, defended his lead and beat Buus to the flag to claim his second win of the season. “After the restart, Larry ten Voorde made a little mistake but unfortunately I couldn’t capitalise on it. Still, three podium results from the last four races is a super trend,” concluded Buus, who is one of the Talent Pool drivers in the #porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland.

Heinrich rounded off the podium in third place and thus finished in the top three for the seventh time. “It was important that I was able to make up two places early in the race. All in all, the first half of the season has gone extremely well. Except for one race, I’ve climbed the podium every time,” says the series leader Heinrich. Claiming fourth place, Rudy van Buren (Netherlands/Huber Racing) achieved his best result of the year so far. His fellow countrymen Jesse van Kuijk and Max van Splunteren (both GP Elite) secured positions five and six. With this result, four Dutch drivers finished in the top six at their home race. Jukka Honkavuori (ID Racing) from Finland concluded the race on the 4.259-kilometre track in seventh, with Michael Ammermüller (Germany/SSR Huber Racing) coming from twelfth on the grid to finish in eighth place.

On the racetrack at the North Sea, which snakes through the Zandvoort dunes, #janerikslooten (IronForce #racing by Phoenix) brought home his fourth victory in the ProAm category. The German won his class ahead of Carlos Rivas (Luxembourg/Black Falcon) and Georgi Donchev (Bulgaria/Huber Racing).

After the race weekend in Zandvoort, Heinrich leads the #porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland at midseason. With four wins and 169 points, the 20-year-old lies ahead of the defending championship ten Voorde (137 points) and Buus (118 points). In the ProAm class, Slooten ranks first. The best rookie after eight of 16 races is Lorcan Hanafin (Great Britain/Fach #auto Tech). SSR Huber #racing leads the team category.

“The two races in Zandvoort were action-packed with overtaking manoeuvres and a great way to wrap up the first half of the season. Seven different drivers have climbed the podium so far this season. This also promises an exciting battle at the top at the next eight races,” says Hurui Issak, Project Manager #porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland.

After a six-week summer break, the #porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland will head to the Nürburgring from 5 to 7 August. In Germany’s Eifel region, rounds nine and ten will be contested as part of the ADAC GT Masters support programme. IronForce #racing by Phoenix and Black Falcon have a short journey to the track. The two teams are based in Meuspath, just a few kilometres away from the Nürburgring.
