Race 2, Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland, Round 3, Zandvoort (NL): Second victory for Larry ten Voorde at home race

Stuttgart. He was the man to beat in Zandvoort: Within 24 hours, Dutchman #larrytenvoorde celebrated his second victory in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. On the Formula 1 racetrack on the Dutch North Sea coast, the GP Elite driver again went head-to-head with Porsche Junior Bastian Buus – repeating his feat from the previous day. Competing for Allied-Racing, the Dane again had to settle for second place. "I took note of exactly where Bastian attacked yesterday. At these places I concentrated on fending him off," revealed ten Voorde. This strategy worked immediately at the start – and again when the field took off for a second time after a race interruption, the two-time champion of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland kept his Danish rival at bay. "My family is here and my GP Elite team has a lot of guests – the fact I can bring home two wins in one weekend is just perfect for them," said a thrilled ten Voorde. In the overall standings, the 26-year-old from the Netherlands extended his lead to 28 points ahead of the new second overall, Briton Harry King.

"Larry made no mistakes – and, although my race was perfect, I had no real chance to get past him," stated Bastian Buus, who was beaten over the finish line by just 0.443 seconds. "The positive thing about this weekend for me is that I'm back among the frontrunners after a somewhat bumpy start to the season." After six of 16 races, the Porsche Junior ranks fourth in the standings and has slashed the gap to Harry King and Loek Hartog in front of him.

Also resuming their duel from Saturday, UK driver Harry King (Allied-Racing) and Robert de Haan (HRT Performance) battled for third place. This time, however, the Dutchman, who was only competing for the second time in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland, came out on top. The 17-year-old won the Rookies classification ahead of Vincent Andronaco (Allied-Racing) from Germany, the best-placed driver from the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland Talent Pool. Australian Harri Jones (Scherer Sport PHX) rounded off the rookie podium.

The ProAm category yielded another double victory: In a repeat of the previous day's results, Sören Spreng (GP Elite) from Germany clinched victory in this classification in race two of the weekend. Second and third place went to Michael Essmann (CarTech Motorsport Bonk) and the Bulgarian Georgi Donchev (ProfilDoors by Huber Racing).

"We witnessed two fantastic races in perfect weather and with a terrific crowd. Congratulations to #larrytenvoorde and his GP Elite squad for their double victory at their home race. I'm also proud of our Talent Pool drivers, who put in strong drives. On Saturday, Alexander Fach was rewarded with sixth place, with Vincent Andronaco finishing fifth overall on Sunday," commented #huruiissak, Project Manager of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland.

The next doubleheader round of the one-make cup with the 375 kW (510 PS) Porsche 911 GT3 Cup will be contested at the Nürburgring (4 to 6 August 2023) with races 7 and 8 of the season.
